I have aussies front and rear in mine.  They're great offroad and haven't had any trouble in that regard.  That said I bought an 8.8 and am saving to put an ARB in the rear.  In the ice and in 2wd if you hit a slick spot instead of just losing traction both tires will lock up causing the rear end to feel squirrely.  If I had to do it over again I'd still put in an Aussie just for the off road benifits if I couldn't get a selectable.  You just have to figure out the comprimise your comfortable with.  I think they were between $200-$250 when I bought them.
