Had some time today to go articulate the TJ on a loading ramp with the newly 8.8 installed. Notice the angle of the rear ds with left front up vs left rear up on the ramp.



Here is a close up of the pass. lower control arm twisting.


Full compression, MAD4x4.com brackets, 1" bump stop spacer.

The rear tire up wasn't on the same ramp as I couldn't keep the rear tire up on the raised edge of the ramp. So I went to anotherclose by ramp. The hand rail stopped me from going further.

I added another 1" bump stop spacer to both the rear and front. The rear to get a higher shock mount on the axle, which in turn makes the shock shorter. For the front, I didn't want the tire rubbing the coil tower and the front sway bar during turning and articulating as noted back in Dec.

Well not to leave this post alone...  I gotta say

TWISTY!!

That rear upper shock mount looks a little too rusty.  I see rust here and there, but that shock mount is moving to a problem issue.

Other than that...  It's twisting just wonderfully.  You're showing the anti-swaybar close, maybe hitting, and a really weirdly offset twisted rear driveline...  It has swaybar disco's...  is it just not stapped out of the way??

Looks like a lot of things are rusty. The mirrors have an aluminum base with black paint.  This are that oxidized grey.  Mine are kinda like that too.  Although not as bad.

Minor rubbing under compression isn't usually a big deal since you're not going to be flexed like that for long and you're also moving slow.  You can see there are disconnects for the front they're the shiny horizontal stud on the pict right above it.

Thanks for the compliments. Yah, it's rusty. It was an OH Jeep till I got it 2 yrs ago and relocated it to KS. I'm even pealing rust from inside the frame rails. Now that makes me nervous.

The shocks, IIRC, come with new rod already installed. It's been a year now since the lift and the rust is just catching up with the rest. That side isn't as bad as the other and the shock on the driver's side is actually moving to one side of the rod.
As for the front sway bar, the frame mount is located underneath the sway bar. This location protects the frame mount and the pin from the tire rubbing it. The sway will get it rather than the mount and pin. The last picture was taken back in Dec when I only had a 2" bump stop spacer in the front. I added another 1" spacer to get better steering. I really don't need the tire stuffed for max. It also rubbed the coil tower in Dec. Now it clears both and you can see, I've got some steering back.
I did the same for the back, since I added the 8.8 and located the shock mount slightly higher. I originally had the Currie shock extenders on the D35 and this clear the shock at full compression. With the 8.8 installed, I placed a 1" bump stop spacer in to give me a 'bounce' room at full compression for the shock rod. It looks like it'll work.

Now I'm debating on different tires as I can't get the LTBs to stop giving me 'Death Wobble' syndrome. (It's in another topic.). If I go wider like in 12.5 tires, I'll have another ~1" on both wall sides with these 15x7, 3.75"bs wheels.
