Finally USING the Jeep!

« on: November 15, 2008, 02:30:34 PM »

OK, so I did some work today on the Jeep (changed the thermostat housing's gasket, adjusted the brake booster travel, installed the front drive shaft back and put in new U-Joints, etc.) and after I was done, I took the Jeep for a test drive on the streets behind my house (which leads to a rock quary).  Anyway, I was driving around, and saw a nice rock on the side of the street, and decided to use the phone's camera to take some poser shots...  So I disconnected the swaybar links, loosened the telescopic track bar, put the jeep in 4L and turned the lockers on (I tried without the lockers first, but it was much easier with the lockers on!), climbed up the rock and took these.  I think articulation is not all that bad, even considering the 4" lift springs...

By the way, it is not snow in the ground; it is dust from the quary (rocks here are white, and it never snows in Miami), and I did turn the aux lights on (got to look GOOD while posing, right?)...

Well, one of the reasons I decided to buy the rig in the first place is that it was a very clean Jeep, no rust at all.  I have also added a lot of things that make it cleaner, like the hardtop, but the softtop is also in excelent condition (I think it was fairly new when I bought it).  I am thinking about selling the soft top, though, as I never use it anymore...

Looks good!  I'm sure it has more articulation, just need to get it on a bigger rock!

Teah...but in Florida you've got to worry about all those Panamanians running around stealing stuff out of your rig.... pot

I can probably get it to flex more; I just need to find a bigger rock!   weee

Well, it does not look like that anymore.  It's still a very nice rig, but it looks a bit more aggressive...

So, I guess I should replace those shots with these (taken in the same place as the previous ones, still before I installed the rocker guards and some other minor mods I did before I left Miami):

By the way, the pics above were taken in Miami.  The Jeep now resides in Central America, traveling between Panama and Costa Rica.  Here are some wheeling pics:

And some with the Jeep actually clean (taken in Miami before I shipped out the Jeep):
