Topic: Help! First injector not working? Code 27.

Here's the story.

I did the mustang injector swap and it didn't work at all (bad injectors I think). I swapped everything back to stock and the first injector isn't running right for some reason.

I've lost alot of acceleration maxing with a top speed of around 55mph. I decided to start the engine and try pulling the connector off the first injector to see if it made a difference.

No difference at all to the engine, it ran the same without the first injector hooked up. So, I tried it with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th ones and the engine almost died before the computer made up for the difference. In conclusion, something must be wrong with either the injector or the wires going to the injector.

I checked the connector and when using a tester (screwdriver thing with a lightbulb) the bulb shinned fine while the engine was running. So power is going to the injector for sure. I also pulled the fuel rail off and inspected the injector, the O-rings are fine but the tip that goes into the engine was dry, unlike the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th which were wet with gasoline.


Right now I'm at a loss for what to do. I'm going to try hooking some tester cables to the battery and then to the injector's +/- connectors. I read somewhere that if the injector fails to "click" when you touch the hot wire to the connector then the injector has gone bad.

If that isn't the issue then maybe I have a bad ground going to the first injector? Although I had thought that the injectors were all grounded together?

Any advice would be appreciated folks.

Try swapping an injector from one hole to another see if the problem travels if so it's a bad inkector.
Did the noid light or test light flicker when the engine was idling? Or on the first injector is it lit with the ignition on and the engine not running?

-The light stayed lit solidly and did not flicker when the engine was running.

-The light would not come on when the engine was not running.

I'm going to have to check the injector using the "click" test with the battery or cut open some tubes and trace that ground down when I get home from my corrections class this afternoon.

The 1st injector is good, I swaped it with the 2nd and nothing changed.

So I for sure have an electrical grimlin somewhere 

The grounds for all 4 injectors go into this thing here. Is it a ground or something a PO did to the wires?

I put the light to both ground and power wires while the engine was running.

When I poked the power like I got a steady glow and when I poked the ground I got a steady glow as well from the first injector.

However, when I poked the injectors that are working it gave a steady glow on the hot wire but a fadding in and out glow from the ground. The engine also idles differently and lost power because I was shorting the circuit when poking the ground wire.

So the 1st injector is geting power for sure but maybe the computer just isn't sending the signal to it? I am an electronic NEWB and can't make sense of this at all.

The ecm controls the ground circuit of the injectors thats why I asked if the light was flickering. If the test light stays lit all the time on the no 1 injector I would  firt try to find out if the ground wire from the no 1 injector to the ecm does not have a short to ground or to 12v for that matter if that is good I think it's time to try to find another ecm after you check the injector wiring carefully for shorts. Don't want to fry your replacement.

By the way those green wires are the 12 volt supply to the injectors ie ignition hot.
The ecm switches the injector ground on and of not the other way around
