I placed a bid on a F350 SD the other day for a local auction and yesterday found out I had won. 2005 112k miles, custom flat bed (tool boxes), large cow grille protector, power everything, 6.0l TD, 4wd. Now I have something that I can pull the TJ on long distance trips. This is going to be new to me as I've always driven my Jeeps to the trails. My wife hasn't come wheeling with me for years as she states she 'can't stand the ride on the highway'. It makes her too tired. But my kids come and I think they will enjoy the ride more with this toter. Now I have to figure out a way to pay for it and get a trailer.

Looks nice I like the way its setup with the bed on the back, I tow mine everywhere just cause its easier to do that then break and try to figure out how to get home, plus the truck is much more comfortable on the road

It's a good thought, but you gotta remember it's built by Ford, it probably couldnt hold the weight

It's a good thought, but you gotta remember it's built by Ford, it probably couldnt hold the weight there we go - cat fight between Ford and Chevy but, i would assume that he'll need dual tires on the rear axle and some of those bolt on extra leafs (the ones that kick in when there's too much weight on the rear axle, not sure what they're called) - but that would look cool cruising down the hwy with the Jeep in the backpack (even though now that i picture it could be too high and risk a tipover)

Well, I know I wouldn't be able to 'carry' the TJ (3780#s) on the back basically due to the >12' length with a ~8' wheelbase. I looked at a sprint car type trailer yesterday (open center with decking only for the tires), but it was a little skinny @6.75' with a 11' deck and 5' dovetail. My TJs width with 35x12.5 tires is just under 6.5' and I'm not sure where the TJ would sit on the trailer to provide a good balance. Probably would have the rear tires on the dovetail based on assuming the middle of the TJ would be over the front axle. Found several 18-25' bumper pull campers (and 2 fifth wheels) in need of work for under ~$500 or less. I have a buddy that upgraded his 3500# axles on his trailer so I have those available. For the fifth wheels, I'm thinking a little work effort, remove 1/2 of the camper and enclose it, strengthen the frame with more crossmembers, and place the TJ on the back of the trailer. That way, we would have a place to sleep dry after a day of wheeling. But, then that is a lot of weight to pull when wheeling for a day and storage cost would be quite a bit due to the length. One thought is to sell off the flat bed, buy a pickup bed and topper or slide-in and still be ahead with the $$ to be able to pay for a 16' basic trailer. Another, with a 16' basic trailer, get a pop-up. Since the flatbed has a ball, fab a mechanism where the popup is turned lengthwise when not in use. When camping, have the pop-up rotate on the ball and thus the beds would expand outward. Only problem would be height for pulling the beds out and securing the canvas, and just climbing up to the door to get in. A 25' bumper pull camper could possibly work. I could keep 10' of camper as well as have plenty of room for the TJ on the back. Here is a 35'er that would have lots of sleeping space. It is $500/BO. Here is a 28'er that appears to make a good candidate. It is $600/BO. I do try to wheel about once a month. Sometimes, I can get free for 2 or 3 times. I'm really trying to keep to the KISS method.

Thats what I have thought about doing when I find me a gooseneck, is to rig up a pop up camper on the front of the trailer that sits sideways with enough room to pull the jeep on the back for long weekend trips. I hadn't thought about buying a camper and taking the back off though thats a good idea

Was notified yesterday that the flat bed is prohibited to park in residential areas per city ordinance. I was leaning to selling it as it really doesn't do me any good to carrying items secured so I've got it listed in my local CL. Didn't have any idea on what price I should ask, but found another B&W flat bed with what is described like mine without top tool boxes. They asked $4300 so I'm asking $3450. When I get back from my 10 wheeling trip, I'll look into it more. I would like a utility bed with the many side cabinets. I'd put a topper on that with doors on the back. Remove one side inside cabinet frames and use that as a camper. The passenger side cabinets would be the exterior kitchen. There is an expedition list I'm on and one guy is using an utility bed on a trailer frame with a roof top tent configuration.

Check the laws carefully: in Miami, you could park it as long as it was covered with a tarp...

Nice! I'm looking for a tow rig or maybe just a new daily driver so I don't have to keep putting the miles on the YJ.

Well, the city has given me till the end of the month to park the F350 out of the residential area. They are considering my request for a waiver if I place a pickup bed on it. I've listed the bed and the truck for sale for the past several months. Not a bite on the truck till recently. I've lowered the bed down to $1450 and I've got 4 people interested. I might have sold the custom bed off it. I picked up a pickup bed rather cheap for its replacement.
