Finally USING the Jeep!

« on: July 27, 2017, 09:00:36 AM »

Well, everything is set for this weekend!  All the press conferences, Show and Shine, Balance contest, pilot meetings and everything is done.  All that is left now is to to hit the dirt!

I even put new lights on the Jeep (I replaced the headlights with LED headlights and the flood aux lights (they used to be KC Slimlights) with LED lights as well.  This time I have the clutch all checked out, rear brakes are now disc brakes, and the which was serviced, so all the things that typically fail are checked and ready to go!

Sorry about it being in Spanish, but here is a little coverage of the show and shine and balance contest event held in Hooters (they are sponsoring) last week:

As for a summary of last year (an event from which I came back with a burnt winch, no clutch and some other minor damages), here is a quick video:

This year we are going to the same place, so hopefully, there will be less damage at the end!

Got back on Sunday from the Jamboree...  What a great event!  This time I learned from my mistakes of last time, and I took one of the first positions (I was #5), and it made a lot of difference!  The Jeep also behaved itself VERY well.  I had to winch a lot, but so did everyone else!  Here's the preliminary video of the event (I have not yet finished it, obviously!), which should give you some ideas of what we did...

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/NIwMyl8JJVo&amp;t=568s" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/v/NIwMyl8JJVo&amp;t=568s</a>

Damage to the Jeep includes:

  • Bent swaybar disconnect lower link
  • Leaking front ARB Locker
  • Ripped out the screws holding the passenger side front flare
  • small bumps to the body on the passenger side (front and rear, but nothing to write home about!)
  • Vacuum leak somewhere inside the cab

Overall, no big issues, so I am happy!

Deleted the previous video; this one is closer to complete...  It also includes some of the pre-ride activities.
