Was working on changing the belt and alternator yesterday. Get the old alternator off and get the new load boss unit wired up. Then attempt to fit it down there in the alternator bracket. Problem is the load boss unit has a "fitting" on it that appears to impinge about 1/8 of an inch further in than the old alternator. So it's contacting the engine bracket the alternator fits on. Doesn't look like a big deal, I just have to remove a little material on the Load boss fitting and it should go right in.
Any of you guys using load boss had to do this?

You mean that big C shaped bushing? That can slide back and forth in the bracket so you can space it properly.

That's what I mean. I couldn't get that :brick: thing to budge the other day. Am a bit of an alternator noob.
So you just pinch that c-shaped bushing deal with some pliars or something and it'll move back a little bit?

yes but it may be seized may require some penetrating fluid and some muscle "small hammer" but don't beat on it to hard you could damage it

Use a rubber mallet to move it. Or you can use a C-clamp or vice.

Thanks for the directions. Probably going to try some penetrating fluid. I gotta move the bracket out slightly, so looks like I'll need to pry it with something.

You can squeeze it with channel locks if you have them. That will give you a bit more leverage regular pliers.

my suggetion if i understand correctly what the issue is (the pressed sleeve in the alternator bracket): you can use a long bolt with a socket at the other end and a washer+nut to pull it out a bit.

Could use the bolt/nut that holds the alternator to the bracket, reverse it and use a socket on it.
The other day, I flipped through some Haynes (?) Jeep repair guide I had and the darn thing didn't clue me in about this potential step when changing the alternator.

It shouldn't take much to move it. It doesn't slide in and out though.
