I ordered a 2 speed Atlas at the end of March and it has not yet been shipped. They quoted 4 weeks to shipment and it has now been about 15 weeks. Anybody have any inside information on what is going on there?
-
Did you call them?

I've been emailing. The order was actually placed through a local Jeep shop so they would handle the importation. I've been trying to get an answer through them also. I'd really like to know if a lot of other customers are experiencing these delays or if it's just my isolated case.

You may also really look at the company on your end. I check the Better Business Bureau and they have had only one complaint and that one was resolved.

Yeah, I'm starting to doubt the local shop too (although I have worked with them many times before with no problems). That's why I would like to get some information independently of the local shop.

ask them for the order # so you can call AA yourself and inquire

Well, called AA today and they told me the order was on backlog from the end of March until mid May, at which point they tried to contact the local shop for order confirmation and technical details. Since they had not received payment and were unable to confirm the order, they cancelled the order near the end of June. So my Atlas is not on order. I'm pretty shocked by this turn of events considering I've ordered many things through this local shop and never had a problem. I'll try to get my money back and order it some other way.
Thanks for the replies and ideas.

Met with the local shop owner today and we called AA together. It turns out it was all due to some confusion over the phone number to call in Mexico. AA had been calling a home in California. So it turns out everyone involved acted in good faith but what we had here was "a failure to communicate".
Now the unexpected benefit of all this confusion:
My main reason to get the 2 speed over the 4 speed was the time to delivery. Since the plan to get this mod done some time in July is simply not going to happen, I took the opportunity to change the order and get a 4 speed. So the mod will get done whenever it happens to arrive but it will be a better setup overall and may lead to bigger and better things down the road.

I think the 4-speed is the better choice.

I'm really looking forward to it but it will probably take 4 or 5 months to arrive.

The bright side is you can still use your Jeep until it gets here. :thumb:
