In the last half dozen years, I think I've seen a couple of articles from Jp Magazine on 4Banger "power adders" and then another article on regearing vs. engine mods. Probably should just contact Pete Trasborg and ask him, but why do these guys never seem to mention the addition of fuel-system related components like adjustable FPR and 19lb injectors on the 2.5? Is it maybe because the aforementioned don't uniformly benefit all 2.5s, '88-'02?

Been talked about a bit on here.

See what you're saying -- June for subscribers, July for online.
Still though, why do these guys never seem to mention the addition of fuel-system related components like adjustable FPR and 19lb injectors on the 2.5? Is it maybe because the aforementioned don't uniformly benefit all 2.5s, '88-'02?

that's because whoever wrote the article googled the information. He's obviously not familiar with the 2.5L, for example the roller rockers are the kit for 6 cyl (12 of them) and he says the stock stamped steel rockers are 1.5 ratio which is false, they are 1.6 just like the one in the picture.
In his defense the Ford 19# injectors will not result in any performance increase.
EDIT: he's got some wrong information about the t/b as well, the least he could do is to get the dimensions right, the 2.5L intake manifold is about 56mm opening and not 52mm like he says, he also talks about the top inside diameter with no reference to the bottom diameter, the 4.0L is 55 to 56mm there (seen both) and there is no need to increase the manifold opening. Going to a bored out 60mm or with the increased 62 to 64 mm t/b bore you will need to bore out the manifold as well.
also shown in the first picture was a hot air intake with no screening from the engine bay where all the hot air from the exhaust and radiator reside, pretty poor advice if you ask me.
All in all sound and looks like an article put together in a hurry from their older issues and probably information from other sites readily available on the internet.

Even if there is basically no pressure difference (.2 loss) between the stock injectors and the Ford 19#, there a difference. This is probably because the spray pattern is so much better. Better atomization. Engine runs a bit smoother as well. Probably no real HP increase but torque seemed to go up which is a plus.
I know the guy who wrote the article. It's cobbled together from stuff in the past as he went to a turbo a few years ago.
The main reason why they don't mention ford fuel injectors and other simple things is because the magazine has sponsors and the writing is to help sell ads. They aren't going to be doing cheap mods that don't require any store-bought parts. Subscriptions don't pay for the magazines publication, the ads do. So you'll rarely see a really bad review. IIRC, they tend to run articles 3 months behind. That means the article was turned into the Editors 3-4 months prior to it showing up on news stands.

I agree, but the taurus fan mention was kind of throwing me though. Then again, maybe that's a "sacrifice" to distract from the other parts mentioned, majority of which are advertised (or could be).

I originally wrote about the 4.0L TB swap back in 2001 so it's been 10 years since the cat was let out of the bag. Thanks to John Dorflinger.
I think it took the magazines about that long to finally say SOA's were safe.
The Taurus fan swap is all over POR4x4 and just about everywhere else. I think they did it because it was an easy article. (writers do have a monthly quota)
PDI was mentioned in the article BUT I don't see them on his engine. Looks like he's running some stock wire set even with the turbo.
