Title: Spotlight Wiring -some pics inside too :)
Post by: mrdeath2000 on July 31, 2011, 08:37:18 PM
Just installed my spotlights this weekend and finished my underhood ammo can(need to cleanup the can and paint it though).  What's a good source for power?  I was going to use an inline fuse and tie into where the fuse block is.  Reccommendations?

Also, CrownRoyal bags work great for light covers ;)

Thx, enjoy the pix.

Well, I'd highly recommend sealing the holes you made in the windshield frame.  That area is prone to rusting out.

For wiring, build a new harness and have the power directly from the battery.

Yea, I plan on throwing some silicone over/around the holes.  Also, I used threaded inserts instead of the sheetmetal screws.

For the wiring, what kind of harness do you mean?  I'm no expert on this.  You mean like wire a post block coming off the battery and tie into that?
I was going to check my fuse block to see if there is an open slot with power when the ignition is on/accessory.

You want to make a proper harness with a fuse as well as a relay and a switch.  You don't want to be powering a spotlight off the stock fuse box.

Looks good.  Not many Jeepers install this type of light but it will be good to be able to point the light different directions.
