He's asking $100. Decent price? I've seen them go for $30 on the forums. I cannot find one in 100 miles of here that has one other than O'Reilly's, but they want $200 for a used one! I'm new to this internet thing and haven't had much luck finding one on the forums. Maybe I just haven't gotten the hang of looking around, but if $100 is decent and I can see it as I buy it...

Hell to the NO. That's robbery. Check ebay man.
I just bought one off there about 2 weeks ago for ~$30 shipped, but I ninja'd it last minute. Should be able to get one shipped to you for <$50.
I'll likely pull my current one off with the spacer and take the 4.0tb and 2.5 spacer to a machine shop and have them bore both open to match the gasket and get rid of the taper inside. Figure they shouldnt rape me more than 20-30$ worse case.
-
Okay cool. I mentioned to him that I was kind of surprised it wasn't closer to $30 and he said "For a throttle body? If you find someone selling it for $30 let me know." A bit of jerk. I'll check out ebay for sure.

i think you can get a bored out 62mm from BountyHunter (in the vendor's section) for that money.
-
I'm sure he'd be happy to sell you a stock one as well.
-
Checked out BountyHunter's vendor page. Sent him an email to see if he'd be willing to sell a stock one.
The jeep had a 4.0L spacer on it so didn't want to go with the 62mm.
-
I think you will be very happy with that 4.0L TB and glad you didn't go the junkyard route.
Should you ever decide to make the jump to a 62mm TB, I can take your spacer as partial credit toward a 62mm spacer. Then you only need to hog your intake opening out to 62mm.
Thanks again.

Can't wait till it's gets here! Good timing too since I finally picked up my efan from the yard. I get to put them both in at the same time so I'm hoping to notice a difference on the highway.
It's kind of funny you mention the 62mm. I was already considering that option and it's a definite possibility.
I'm wondering why people wouldn't want a 62mm right off the bat if they didn't have a reason to stick with the 4.0 such as having a 4.0L spacer on hand?
-
Even when the 62mm TB is used with a restriction like the 4.0L spacer or a stock 2.5L intake opening, you will see a large improvement in throttle response since the 62mm TB has no taper beneath the throttle plate. Enjoy.

Throttle Body came in on Friday and got on the Jeep Saturday. Thanks Bounty Hunter. This part was freakin immaculate. I really appreciate you attaching the IAC housing on there so I could just throw it on the Jeep without having to go out and pick some tamper proof torx bits.
Makes a huge difference. Well, at least for me. I notice little differences when driving and this thing definitely picks up faster and has an easier time accelerating from lower RPMs. I appreciate everyone's input on this. Thanks!

Bounty hunter, how would I pay you if I were to buy one of these throttle bodies from you, do I just mail you a check or use paypal or what?
-
Hey ill sell you my extra one for 30 + wutever shipping is to you its not bored out, I got it for my xj from a guy and found out after I went to hook it all up that I got the one without the map sensor on it and needed the one with it on the tb. So off your rig has the map sensor on the firewall this one will work for you

What about fuel economy? Do you get any better mileage?

yes, you get 40mpg
it's probably all about how heavy is your right foot though regardless if it a stock t/b, a 4.0L or 62mm

It definitely didn't hurt mine when I did the swap but as far as improvements it won't be enough to notice if it does

I agree. You're making more power, so it's possible the engine won't struggle as much & you will notice an improvement in mileage, IF you can keep your foot out of it. Not easily done when the 2.5 becomes more fun to drive.
