I don't hang out on :pirate: much, but I saw this and thought I would pass it along.
Pretty good price. But you would have 2.7-2.7 unless you already have a 4:1 for the 231.

Would be interesting to do a 241OR with the doubler as an adapter.
-
that's an awesome price basically for a DIY klune. it is great if you already have a 4:1 t-case to get a 4 speed setup. Can't make it for any cheaper than $600 or even $700 (after the promo ends). Only issue is the length added and the fact that it doesn't mention if you can use it in front of a 231 or 241 (although i can't see why not other than the position for the shifter) - i read the whole thread and didn't see anyone asking that question. Like Jeffy said if it can be coupled with a junkyard 241OR and the internals from the 231 behind the AX5 would make a great adapter and give you 4 speed, no front/rear shifters but for sure beats any price out there. (i think i saw somewhere some kit for running rear only low on the 241OR as well but can't remember for sure)

That is a great price. Someone should get it and do a review.

now that i think about it i believe that even with an SSYE the total length if coupled with another 231 or 241 would probably be too long, not sure the exact resulting length but with a lift the rear d/s could end up being too short and too steep of an angle. Would be interested to hear from someone that has more info on this, i'm running a D300 so i wouldn't know.

Transfer lengths (in inches) Short tail has no speedo
Atlas 2 Short Tail 11.8
Dana 300 (stock) 12
Atlas 2 Long Tail 13.8
Atlas 4 Short Tail 15
NP 241 OR (stock) 15.25
NP 231J SYE 16 to 17
Atlas 4 Long 17
NP 231J (stock) 20.5 to 21
-
so will be somewhere 22 to 23'' long if combined with 241OR
-
Looks like it would be best to move the motor forward about 4 inches.

if there's enough room to move it 7'' would allow for stock driveshafts (rear out of a rubi).

I've heard people move it up to 6".

i think he could make them a bit shorter if the rear 1/2 would be bolted prior to assembly of the front 1/2 (like blackbox-i so the bolts/nuts would be on the inside rather than with the milled openings for the nuts, might gain another 1/2'' to 3/4'' or so, probably you could use c/sunk bolt in that case or just socket head ones)
