Title: steering upgrades/ input
Post by: fobanger00 on February 12, 2013, 09:18:54 AM
Im looking for some beefier steering setups. ive looked at some of the heavier duty tierod options like currie but i was wondering if the over the knuckle steering setup form iron rock offroad would be worth it. does anyone have it?

that is the part^

any other options or input would be great. i currently have stock tierods and have 37s on it now. i only drove it once so far but I am waiting to figure this steering out.  anything els i will need for these tires? 37x14.5x15, just using them for a couple months.

those tires are massive (37 diam by 14.5 wide  :yikes:)
axle upgrades for sure (maybe you've done that already but if you didn't you will need it)

It seems the Currie steering upgrade is good for a bolt-on solution.

Those are BIG for a stock set up. I run the currie correctlync and IronMan 4x4 fab heavy duty aluminum tie-rod. There are a number of rigs at King of the hammers running that tie-rod. Andy from Ironman can set you up. The advantage is basically a 1 ton steering set up, with high grade aluminum that will not dent as it has a very high metallic memory. I've slammed it on rocks and not a dent on it at all.

i run the set up on the bottom.

Aluminum tie rods do work well.  A friend runs the Teraflex aluminum tie rod that comes with the high steer knuckle kit.  I've seen it get bent on rocks and it just pops back straight with no damage.
