Have you calibrated your speedometer?
-
like he ^ said
mine was doing it all the time, fixed the speedo gear and never seen it again.
-
Isn't there a sensor that tells the ecu you are in 5th so the light doesn't come on?
-
nope, no sensor, what i can tell you is before i had the R&P replaced the light was coming on all the time, once the speedo was accurate didn't see it come on.
-
cool thanks for the fast responses ill get it calibrated or is that something that could be done by changing a part?
-
it all depends of your axle ratio and tire size, you can get pretty close matching t-case speedo gear once you calculate by how much is off.
or you can get a dakota digital speedo calibrator, it goes on the signal wire from the sensor and you can increase/decrease the setting to match your actual speed.

I like the little calibrator motorcycles use. (One of the members has one) It's tiny and easy to use. Though I've been doing the gear thing since forever.
-
I've had great luck with my Dakota Digital...but I needed one since my Jeep hasn't had a speedo gear since almost a year after I bought it. It sits just inside my door sill so I can reach down while driving to adjust it if necessary.

I just took out the light bulb for that light... It's absolutely worthless to me!
