It just started doing this and its kind of weird. If I just drive it to and from school about 12 miles one way she works great. But if I drive around town and hit a few places putting on say 30-40 miles. Steering gets real weird as long as I hold it steady no steering input its great. But try to make little correction and it starts to dart in the direction of the input. Little right and she try's to turn right.
Now if I try to slow down while doing this and just hit the brakes Lightly it magnifies it.
Had a front end alignment a while ago and it worked great till this started. Also all bushings under it have less than 10,000 miles. Tie rod ends all seem tight.
Any hints.

you have the track bar? mine did this when i broke the bolt in the axle.
-
I've had some strange steering effects when one of the front brake caliper pistons was sticking.

Kind of wondering about that. Do know its brake related. Cause the more I use them the worse it gets.
Wondering how they torqued my wheels when I had them rotated the last time.

i've had that too, totally forgot
and it's true the more I drove (time length) the worse it got.

when it starts doing it just stop the Jeep and touch the rim, if it locks would be hot, otherwise it shouldnt be.

Have noticed that I'm also down on power when this happens. Thought it was getting warm but started watching the gauge, and it is normal.
Really should have replaced the calipers long ago. Cannot bleed the right side cause the bleeder is striped. Not the threads but the wrench end is completely round.
-
i have a post somewhere with the caliper issue - got the raybestos remans for quite cheap from amazon, i was thinking to get the rebuild sets but for the $50 or so i might have saved (maybe even less) i went for the reman ones. I was having the power issue too and my mpg went bust when it started happening.
-
I replaced mine because they were also sticking; I originally wanted a dual piston one, but could not find any that would fit (idea was to increase stopping power; I already have hydro-boost, but wanted a bit more bite). Ended up buying one off the internet and was not that expensive (easy to swap in too).

Get some with metal pistons, they supposedly don't stick as often as the composite ones that wear and then start tilting in the bore and binding.

I replaced both my calipers with rebuilds that were $19 each... Just replace the whole caliper.

So where did you get them.

i found the thread i posted when i had the issue, cost me $25 for each from Amazon

I went to the auto parts store. Nothing really special about it at all.

Ok that is where I found some did you get the metal pistons, they seem to be a little more Like $28.
As far as Amazon they finally let me down. The did not list any.

No, I didn't bother. They're cheap enough and easy to get otherwise.
For Amazon, you have be able to know what other vehicles also use it then cross-reference.

New question
What's the difference between a Loaded and unloaded Caliper.

Brake pads.

they still have them but they're not $25 anymore

Brake pads.
nope, they come with hardware (at least on Amazon that's what it is, the links i posted are "loaded calipers" but they mention no brake pads.

That's actually semi-loaded then. All that's different from the ones I posted are those bolts.
-
looks lik O'Reily's won. $19.99 per caliper unloaded, new rotors $23.99, pads $20.99 for the set.

you're right, i remember I was wondering the same thing when i bought them - they're obviously wrong with the description.

If you want a nice improvement in braking try the Hawk HPS's.

Actually I never really had a problem with the brakes stopping. Couple of times even I would swear the rear tires were off the ground from stopping so hard.
-
Glad I didn't order right away. Cause for the fun of it I checked Summit Racing and even with paying shipping I came out way better.
-
So what did you order? I see they're $15 there.
-
2 calipers $15.97 ea 2 rotors $19.16 ea and a set of semi Metallic pads $12.95.
-
wow, that's a great deal, under $100

So far if I need something and can wait a few days Summit will have the best price. If they ship like normal I will have it on Wed or Thur.
-
i ordered from Summit a few times, they have good deals but sometimes with shipping it's a wash compared to Amazon or very close (i have prime membership so most of things are free 2 day shipping).
but in this case even with shipping you can't beat the price
-
Well just got the Notice Delivery set for Wed.

Work is done, just need to drive it around town and heat it up, just do not feel like doing that today. Did take it one a short drive and it now stops in a straight line which is good. No pulling to one side and it was doing that before.
Bad thing was I forgot I did not have many miles on my pads . So put them away just in case I need them.
