Title: Passenger Side Motor Mount Bracket
Post by: jagular7 on July 28, 2013, 09:44:50 AM
I started to have an issue the front yoke of the rear ds hitting the floor. Thought this was due to the missing trans mount. Nope. Then thought it was the older rubber of the motor mounts. Replacing them with aftermarket brackets, come to find the issue. The passenger side motor mount bracket! It should look like this - (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/yokomura/4BangerJP/engine_mounts/top_broken.jpg)

My driver's side has the issue of the broken motor mount bracket. Looks to be a dealership only bracket.

your trans mount doesn't look like the correct one though, mind you my statement is based on the stock one i had on my 1995 YJ

yeah, i didn't think TJs had the anti-torque mount but the trans mount was beefier like this ^ one.

trans mount looks similar to what my 1990 yj had (same torque bushing thing also in the second photo of the trans mount) . it is significantly different than on my dads 06 Rubicon but that's a different trans and transfer case so no big surprise that the mount changed. that factory motor mount spacer was abit of a mystery to me being that my jeep never had them (at least by the time i got the jeep) and didn't hit anything. may have had older fuel injection but was still a yj with a 2.5l, ax5, and a np231.

Yup it's a Dealer only part but they redesigned it so it's not made of sheet metal like your OE.   You could make one from some 1x2 square tubing.

Getting Brown Dog adapter mount. I've got their poly motor mounts. Already installed the driver's side engine mount. Then ran into this situation with the adpater. Ordered on Sunday night, to be delivered on Wednesday.

The trans mount was installed when the trans was replaced. The old AX5 lost 5th, rattled in reverse, and was hard to get into 1 and 2. I knew it was going. Its replacement is another AX5. Issue I couldn't do the swap myself. I was having hip replacement surgery. So it was done by another wheeler. He added the poly trans mount. The wing extension of the mount is stock. I also have a TJ to compare mounts. I recently swapped its auto trans, myself. TJ has poly mounts (engine 1" rise). Been that way for years.  That's why I stuck with polys.

I was amazed at less than a thumb thickness to the floor on passenger side. Driver's several fingers!
