They do go on dirt but this was one of the two they do in the streets.   This was between the IRL races.  The thing you have to think about is exposure.  They're raving in front of the IRL croud so they are getting a lot of exposure for this small series.  All of the trucks are owned by Robby.

When the Mickey Thompson Offroad series was at it's peak it would race on Super Motocross tracks.  I don't think even Super Motocross is around anymore either.  There's Supercross but it's not nearly as big as Super Motocross was.  They used to go to stadiums and fill them with dirt so it was a tight course with big jumps.  The Mickey Thompson Series had two classes.  The trucks and buggies.  Notice all the greats names in the series.  It was HUGE back then.  If you look carefully, you may notice that they run 33's up front and 35's in the back.

Here's Robby back in '79.  Note how wet the track is.  They don't usually race with it that wet.
