Anybody done one on a YJ?  Anybody make a kit?  Anybody know anything about stopping the dreaded "No Power Wander"?

I just did a power steering conversion about six months ago.  I called a few wrecking yards and they sent me all the parts I needed.  Gear box, pump, belt, resivor, pump bracket, stearing shaft, pitman arm, and hoses.  I think that is all ya need.  It was a really easy conversion and would recomend it, over the manual steering box.  My box was going out so I decided to put power steering on.  I did not notice any power loss.
I have 35" tires and I can now turn them on dry pavement without moving.

Did you put a 3 or a 5 turn gear in yours.
Mine HAS a 5 turn which I hate.

I would think you could do a conversion with about $200, tops.  Salvage evertything off a PS equiped Jeep of similar model and year.  You'll need the pump, pump mounting bracket (I think), hoses, pitman arm and gear box.  I believe that's it.  Oh and you'll need to get a new serpentine belt.

On another Jeep list, those looking for a better PS box look for a Durango box.
Welcome to the list. I'm in Lnxa. Are you associated with KCJeep? Or another 4wd club in the area?

The YJ boxes aren't as leaky as the TJ boxes.  I don't know why they skimped on the seals.  Actually some people have swapped YJ boxes or any other Saganaw.
