Title: Code 41

Heard the belt squealing a bit, but that seemed to go away.   Then a few weeks later, a check engine light came on.  Checked the codes and Code 41 turned up. 

Over about the last fiscal year my Jeep has been kicking my butt in terms of mundane maintenance issues. 

First I had an electrical short that probably had a $1000 bucks thrown at it in mid-2013 (of course that money did include a replacement Die Hard Odyssey Battery and a high-amp alternator, so it seemed like it wasn't a total loss). 

Then , earlier this month I had to get the brake master cylinder and rear brake shoes replaced and brakes bled (and I'm probably going to need to turn or replace the front rotors and buy some new pads in the near future, also).  That ran about $400.

Now I'm Code 41 on this 20 year old rig...Figuring either the belt is slipping or my off-brand "Ebay" high-amp alternator is demonstrating why it is not commanding a top-dollar price, or I've gotta dig around for some other reasons. 

And they ask me why I drink...  :lol:

If you take your alternator to an auto parts store you can usually get it tested for free.

Haven't posted in awhile.  Ended up replacing my alternator.

That's what fixed my code 41 also.
