Title: Motor oil saturated air filter on 91 YJ
Post by: Beachbum on April 03, 2006, 02:29:19 PM
Has anybody experienceed this on a 91 YJ before ???  The pcv is only a brass fitting with a small hole / orifice. There is no valve. I found the orifice to be plugged, took carb cleaner and cleaned it. To date I haven't had anymore problems, but I haven't had the jeep out on hiway either where you really have to whip and beat it to keep speed due to the oversize tires.

I'm quite sure what you're asking here...

There is no PCV on a MPFI Jeep.  You're looking at either the Fresh Air Vent in the back or the CCV which is the small tube on the side of the valce cover.

If there is blockage in the lines for the vent, you could find oil in the air box since it increases the air pressure in the engine.  If when you cleaned it, it solved the problem, then you're lucky.  Otherwise, it's a sign of blowback which means your oil rings are wearing out...

Your CCV was running in reverse with the clogged orifice, forcing oil into the airbox instead of pulling air from the airbox.  You should be good to go now.
