I know I haven't been around here long, but I thought I'd say goodbye anyway. The 2.5 has about 3 more days of life left and it'll be replaced by a very mild SBC. The planning and parts buying stage ends tomorrow and this weekend eventhing from the firewall (and then some) is getting torn off. The 305/350 combo should will be complete NLT 01May - I'll post pics if anybody is interested.

Well, no one said you have to leave.

I would love to see pics....I know we all love our four bangers, but given the opportunity, I would replace the engine with a beast in a heartbeat. Would love to know how my Jeep would drive with 200-300+ hp under the hood.

I have an oppurtunity at work here to pick an AMC 4.0L for next to nothing do a rebuild on the block then work on a tranny for it and I too will get to move up to the 190+ range. Got introduced to a nice supercharger system today that brings it up to almost 275 HP on a 4.0. Gonna take some saving in the "honey don't know fund" for that supercharger. but already got the go ahead for a new drivetrain.
get some pics and take notes is all I can give as advice.

Is that a old 231 or a new 4.3L? That would make for an awesome engine in such a small Jeep. Even if it is a carburated version.

FYI, the 4.3L is a 262 CID
and for the record I still love mine. Picking up the "new" Jeep this saturday with the older TBI 4.3L and TH350 in it.

Started the tear down on the 4.0L yesterday. Bearings are bad for starters. Gotta get into more though. Time is an issue

Doh, I was confusing it with the 3800, I think.
