Here's another adventure with my Sony products. I recently bought a Sony RX100M2. This is a nice little point and shop camera designed to fill a need for people with DSLR's. Well, I've had it for a while. Bought it as a demo. Well, the first real outing was a few months back and the screen got really scratched. It's pretty bad. It turns out they are prone to scratching. Now, I'm sure Sony won't cover the damage. So I went to ebay and found a shop that sells the screen and will do the install. Turns out they will take your money and ship your camera back in worse shape then when you went it. Not to mention not replacing the screen. Now I've got a RX100M2 that has very little usage and is unusable. The screen needs to be replaced and is unplugged. I don't really want to send it to Sony's repair since I know they will charge me an arm and a leg to fix it. Though I might have to if I want it fixed. I'm almost to the point of chucking the whole thing and calling it a total loss.

I think we might have an "Inside Man" around here somewhere :wall:

Well, afer filing a complaint with ebay, I got my money back or most of it. There was a smaller transaction done on paypal and I had to file a claim there as well. After escalating the claim, the seller refunded all my money. Still, it's a PITA and probably my worst ebay experience. The seller had 99% but sold so much stuff that even with a lot of negative reviews he had a good rating. The seller was supposed to replace the screen on my camera but didn't. He 'tested' it but I had disconnected the ribbon cable and he assumed that what was wrong was the main board without ever really testing it. Then he mailed it back with no word. I later checked the BBB and his store had an F rating.
So now I'm trying to get in contact with Percision Camera. That's Sony's and a lot of others Authorized Service Dealer. They haven't gotten back to me yet. I think it's probably going to cost around $200 to fix. It's a $600 camera and I've only used it once. I'm going to get it fixed though. It's too expensive not to get fixed even though I could have bought a RX100M3 for the same amount of money I've spent.

You know, in all honesty, this is the first time I hear they are prone to scratching...

It's my only complaint with the camera really. Now I have to figure out who to send it to to get fixed. Have any recommendations?
