Title: Lift Kit suggestions
Post by: grumpygy on October 25, 2014, 10:42:09 AM
Know we have done this before.  But what is currently available.

I still have the stock springs.  Run 31.5 but they clear cause of a shackle and body lift.  I'm more looking to just get new springs with a bit softer ride.  So would only want to go 1-2 inch lift.

I'd recommend the ARB OME 2.5" thought when installed it will be closer to 3" before it settles.  But then you can remove your shackle lift and body lift.  No one makes a 1-2" leaf unless you go custom.  You might as well swap to stock 5 leaf all around at that point. Also generally with any lift, you're looking at an increase in spring rate.

I went with the rugged ridge 2.5" lift.  It smoothed out my ride quite a bit.

Actually I just looked up the OME and it comes as a 2" for light duty.

I was looking for a set of springs made for the 4 banger.

I can order just the springs from ARB and that looks to be the way to go for me.

If you run a winch or have heavy bumpers you'll probably want the HD's.  Also make sure you get all the parts you need.  New U-bolts, bushings and sleeves.

I'm not sure why ARB is showing 2" leafs.  The leafs carry the same mfg. numbers as those in the kit.  I know the kit pretty well and it will give you 3" of lift when just put on.  You'll also need new shocks. move teh front brakelines or else get longer lines. etc... All the little things can nickel and dime you.

Brake lines already replaced.  Mine were looking bad and the shackle lift had them fully extended.  Knew I was putting on the sway bar disconnect so got longer lines.

You can also think about F250 shock towers (weld on) and longer front shocks for more travel, since you'll need to buy new shocks anyway.  Someone may be able to provide the FoMoCo part number... The towers are pretty cheap.
