So I really hate the stock ps and coolant tanks. With the electric fan installed I have no place to hang them. I was going make a bracket, but instead i think im going to junkyard tomorrow to get different items. I saw on a google search i can use a saab ps tank, for coolant id like to put it under the brake booster.

I made my own after trying out a cheap eBay one (fail)
no problems since, here's the thread http://4bangerjp.com/forums/index.php/topic,11065.0.html

thats looks pretty nice. For the p/s i think im going to try the saab unit. coolant maybe something like that.

you need something bigger for coolant so it has enough room to expand, got this off eBay fairly cheap (the one on the right side) and in this case was a winner (better quality too, all stainless with an aluminum cap and silicone seal). It has a built in overflow tube that exits on the bottom (the long one), same for the main tube, I used 1/4'' overflow tank hose and went under the shroud and on the side up to the nipple at the radiator cap

That's sweet.
I simply zip tied my OEM coolant and power steering bottle in place....has worked without issue for the past 4 1/2 years. There's a pic in my build thread.

I see what you did with yours. mark viii mark is larger than the taurus. I'd have to cut the should to do what you did. Btw what dc fan controller are you running?

had some time with the holiday to head to the junkyard. I managed to find on of each style of ps tank i was interested in. A tank with angled fitting from a saab and and straight fitting from an old bmw.

ended up making a small bracket to use with the angled fitting bottle. If i had longer hose i would have used the straight fitting bottle. I noticed this bottle is approx 1/2 quart larger than stock.

Can't remember...just packed up all the paperwork as showing the Jeep to a potential buyer tomorrow. Was the basic two-speed controller.

can't remember exactly, i'll measure when I get some time and let you know. It holds enough but not much extra, didn't have problems with it though, just added a little at each oil change.

I think going to go with the 3x10

FYI both those tanks have integrated filters and are considered service items,
you can buy them online new for like 23 dollars.
The filter is good for about 12000 miles depending on your driving habits.
-
weird so the tanks are replaced or is there a was to get it open to the filter?
edit, after looking around i have no idea what you mean. Inside there is a level float...? On rock auto all the power steering filters are inline.
-
ahh i think i see the filter you talking about. I was thinking it was a baffle to cut down of the fluid foaming. Either way dont care, i soaked the whole think in pine sol to clean it out before i mounted it.

yeah, should be fine - I remember now that I had to go with the skinny one to clear the inlet pipe to the intercooler so I didn' have a choice. I suggest maybe getting an even longer one, no harm in that but there's a problem if you don't have enogh expansion (fyi 2x19 is larger volume than 3x10)
-
Yeah i filled the factory bottle to mid level and it was 45 oz. I dont have room for anything that big in the space i used. But interesting enough the 3x10 is rated at 32oz and the 2x19 is only 23oz. Must have to do with the height of the overflow tube in the bottle.

Why not just go with a complete unit rather than the remote reservoir?

i'm super cheap, spent $8 on mine. Junkyard had 50% on a holiday week.

Sorry was distracted from the web for a while,, yep on a BMW you
throw the whole reservoir away when you service the system.
They are cheap to buy, hate the waste though. Pelican parts is where I get mine.
I find by 12K that the filter is shot, I've dumped the system and
refilled and the fluid turns black almost instantly.
They hold so little fluid a cooler is mandatory. BMW's don't use
power steering fluid they use Type F auto transmission fluid. (Trivia :) )
I'm swapping out the throwaway unit for a aftermarket AL tank with a spin-on filter.
My car is AWD and works the heck out of the power steering.
