Title: Engine sensors
Post by: bootguy on July 02, 2015, 10:18:03 PM
Are the engine sensors (Oil pressure, Temp, charging) going to both the gauges and any engine control modules?  Or are there separate sensors for each destination.  The reason I am asking is I want to replace the gauges but do not want to mess up any engine control sensors.

No, they shouldn't be.  Though you can also get gauges that will work with the existing senders as well.  It's an old article but it mentions all of the values.  http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/interior/yjdash/

on YJ you have separate temp sensors for coolant temp (the one on the head close to the firewall is for the gauge, the one in the thermostat housing is for the PCM), nothing is shared between the PCM and gauges (oil pressure is not sent to the PCM). charging is just a battery voltage, no sensor involved and the gauge is just a voltmeter
