Any one ever have any problem with breaking these things. I had mine shatter this weekend while I was doing some very low speed crawling. I never used more than 3/4 throttle.

I've heard of it happening but not that often. I think there is a shop that sells stuff on ebay that makes steel engine mounts to replace that.
-
I already looked on ebay. A steel one would be nice. The deal wants $100 for a new one. I'll make a new one out of steel myself for that price.
-
Was the vendor brown dog industries? http://www.browndogindustries.com/Wrangler-Engine-Bracket.html
I didn't think $170 was to bad for mounts and brackets.
-
$130 for some extra befy mounts aint too bad. Those mounts look pertty simple. I could make those myself. There is no way I am going to pay $100 for a single stock mount.
-
Well, if you have the welder and steel, I'd just make them for $50 and save the rest. You have the old one so you can get measurements off it. It doesn't look like the ebay ones are that complicated.
Not to mention, their welds look a little rough.
-
If you were to do what the 1/4ilers do, would it help? When you launch a vehicle off line from static, the engine tends to rotate in CCW. Rather than adding solid engine mounts, why not add a limiting chain. The chain would limit the rotation of the engine under load.
-
A chain would be a bad idea. Some engine's use dapeners though. Stronger mounts would be the best option. Those are cast aluminum and aren't super strong.
-
I have the steel and a couple welders. I could make them no problem. The question is wether I should make a new drivers side one too while I am at it. Thie welds don't look to bad. A little rough, they look like 6010 or 6011 stick welds.
-
I hate seeing stuff like this... some things you just can't touch or fix until it's too late.
I've said it before, I'm a believer in "replace it with something 'bigger/badder/better'" Seeing this happen makes me think that replacing it with the same thing, and maybe it'll never happen again. But replace it with something stronger, well that should guarantee it nover happening again.

I'd go ahead and do both while you're in the mood.

guess i'll have to add this to the list of to do things while my jeep is apart. I know some of my club members have broken them and knowing me i'll be the next to break them. and i might aswell make them lift the motor aswell.
