Title: Batch or Sequentical Injection?
Post by: losduos on August 31, 2017, 03:40:00 PM
Hi Guys,

I am struggling here, apparently my 95 YJ has sequential fuel injection. Now, how the hell does that work with the sensors that are available?
So the crank position sensor will be able to tell when a cylinder is at TDC (or just before that), there are 2 sets of notches on flywheel so the ECU knows the TDC for both cylinder per rotation but the ECU will not know which one it is. The camshaft, rotating with half the speed, has the position sensor with the pulse ring which now tells whether its on the compression stroke or was just on the exhaust stroke.
So based on the available information the ECU could tell that a cylinder is about to open a intake valve but how does it know which one it is? Am I missing something?

Thanks...

There's a hall sensor in the distributor which tells the computer which cylinder is getting ready to fire. (ie 1,3,4,2)
