Title: Tranny question
Post by: rojogordo on April 30, 2006, 12:42:05 PM
1989 MODEL YEAR
AX-15 replaces BA10/5 (mid-year introduction)

This from technical forum.

How can I tell which tranny my '89 Wrangler has?

Is there a tag or mark on it?

Thanks.

I hear the AX-15 is stouter than the BA-10.

Do you have an opinion on this point?

So you have a 4.2L?

The AX-15 is a bit stronger then the BA-10/5 but really if you're going to do the swap you might as well do a NV3550 and be done with it.  The AX-15 has some of the same quirks as the AX-5.
