Title: 3.5"lift + 2"BB?
Post by: Liljeepz on May 21, 2006, 03:35:58 PM
Just wondering if that is a bad thing or no problems with it.
I want to get a RE 3.5 superflex and also a 2" BB, 5.5" lift would be awsome! and a lot cheeper that a 4-5" lift.
I have seen it done befor, but never got  a chanc to ask pro/cons to it.
Any of you done this or know some one who has?
I have to get a SYE, with the 3.5 super flex any wase. (even tho im not 100% clear on how it works) That should let the driveshaft angle be greater, and with the 1" TC drop kit, the angle should only be as bad as 4-4.5" lift.

You def would not be the first person to do this.   I have been thinking the same thing.   Execpt Im gonna go just for a one inch body lift.    Other people I know have taken a 3.5inch lift and added a coil spring spacer later on when they wanted a bigger tire.   The three inch body lift and above get a bit skecthy.    But i used to do that back in the day.   Probably better off just doing it right the first time.   But hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

the problem becomes the geometry of the links and stearing
much over 4" an you need long arms or omthing like that. if not it has the cance of riding and handleing very bad

Ahhh thats the kind of info I was kind of looking for!
This is my every day driver and will only be puting 33x12.5 on, was just looking for cheep extra clearance. I guss the 3.5 will have to do, mabey a 1" BL

The only problem I see is that over 4" (3.5" Suspension + 2" Budget Boost) is that you really want to go with a long arm kit.  From I remember you get some weird handling with that much lift.  Tire lift under acceleration and squatting becomes more pronounced too.

With a SYE and a CV driveshaft, you won't need a 1" TC drop even with that much lift.  Also, lowering the transfer case would reduce your ground clearance.

Like others have stated, 4+ requires long arm with large tires. If you kept your tires to 33s, then it's not as much required unless you actually push yourself in wheeling.
What happens is the arms get steep angles. With the front axle higher than the rear, then the rear axle will tend to walk under the Jeep and lift the front.
If you are near KC, I can show you that I can lift my left front tire with the 4cyl/auto I've got. I'm running 2" bb and Rubi coils, Currie rear adj upper arms, Tera front adj lower arms, RE front track, rear track riser in the rear. Pretty simple to do and I'm only running 34's....

To me, biggest PITA would be the 35x12.5s breaking the rear axles....

For 33s the 3.5 and a 1"bl is more than enough.

Great points!
Thanks!
all your ideas have made me rethink my plan.  :?

You may already know this, but if you do the MML with the BL, you won't have to move the fan shroud and it will help your driveline angle so you can probably get away with doing you SYE later as to spread the cost out a little.(http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/happy/356.gif)

Motor Mount Lift

It lifts the motor an inch which changes the driveline angle all the way down to the transfer case.
