My jeep has 70,000 miles and I'm wondering do I change the fluid in the manual tranny? Any write ups or how to's I can read?

I too need to do this maintenence. I have just over 100,000 miles on my '98 now.

I can't help you on this one... Pretty sure Jeffy can.
My 2 cents... call it coincidence... I bought my Jeep and drove it for a year until I thought to change the manual tranny fluid. I did so and not more than 100 miles later it stopped going into gear. I got another tranny and gave that broken one to the guy I bought the rebuilt one from. So I don't know what was wrong with it.
So, coincidence???

There really isn't a need for a writeup. It's pretty basic. Drain and refill. You might want to read the GL-5 thread and the one about drain plug location.

I didn't think it would be too terribly complicated, but is there any specific fluid you recomend?
Brands, or weights that I might not find in a manual I mean. Not that I have a manual.

Gm synchromesh manual tranny Fluid IS GREAT for the AX5.
It cost but it will smooth your shifts and won't harm your synchro's
