The part is called the 'Instrument Panel'. It will cost around $135 and you can get it from the Dealer or catalogs. It's fairly simple to change BUT there is a lot of wiring that needs to be disconnected. Basically ALL of the plastic parts that bolt to the instrument panel need to be removed as well as gauges.

ok i alreadyu hve all the plastic off adn it looks not good.. i just got the bondo off the top of it were the windsheild coevers when it is up and basicaly all th3e metal up there from the instrument panel up there is gone.. but luckly the body tub and the windsheild fram arnt rusted :) ..... ill have to find a replacement eventualy but i think for the sack of driving it on the 4th ill just remove the uper lip of it and run it like that till i get the time to totaly replace it.....

The missing upper lip is very common. It should be ok to drive with. You cna drive with most of the plastic off and still have the gauges plugged in. BTDT.
WHen you get the new instrumnet panel, besure to paint it. It should come primed. I used several coats of Hammerite and when I installed it I used Silicone between the instrument panel and body. You might want to sand and paint the lip of the body. Besure not to paint too far down or else you'll be able to see it from the outside.

ya that was my plan.. to cutr off the rot and use what i got tell i get the new stuff... so ill pant it today nad some other parts that need pant... aka my mirror mounts and window hinges..... its a jeep owrk weekend;)

Well, I'd just leave the dash until you're ready to do it, hopefully soon. Just sweep out some rust and go wheeling.

thats what i did.. i cut off most the lip and painted it... and am now waiting for paint to dry so i will proably have to wait tell after work tomarrow to put the dash back togeter.. man this is realy a 30minute job thst turnd into a 4day project......

ok 1 last question... for the plastic dash part that bolts onto the lip between windsheild and body tub the screw/bolts used to go throw the metal we cut off then it had some hard epoxy stuff.. but now only 2 are laeft cuz of the roten metal.. so i just used the 2 that were left and put it back together and the dash semes to be prety stable cunsidering its plastic.. any one have an idea for filling the holes in so you can screw through it??.......
