anyone ever done this before at home? i have my 8.8 coming, the SYE kit, and the CV driveshaft...and im planning on doing the SYE by myself....anyone have any experience doing this?

There really isn't much to it. Measure twice, cut once. Then drill and tap.

not the drill and tap one...the heavy duty one...

Well, those are easier in that you don't have to do any cutting or drilling. You just need a good pair of C ring plyers.

good to hear...

guess not too many people have done them by themselves...by the reaction to this topic....

I'm doing the exact same thing to my yj soon. I am redoing the 8.8 now and then after it is built I'll go to the sye and cv but from what I understand it is not a hard thing just time and watching how it comes apart and reassemble. I work at a dealership but I will still just take it apart and put it together the same way pending instructions from the kit. tcases are pretty simple designs just take it slow and let me know how it turns out. I'm sure with my schedule you'll have yours done first.

I did one in my garage it was pretty staight forward.I did the JB conversions super shot kit its about 2" or so shorter than the normal SYE
kit and If you have a electronic signal driven speedo insted of cable driven JB also has a adjustble speed recalibrator that woorks real well and you can recalibrate at any time for regearing or tires size changes and I think I only paid $50 for it.good luck
