That's beacuse it's their official answer. I'm sure someone knows but at that level in the company, that's probably the best you'll get.

well that maybe but im on a mission to find out the exact # and damn it !!!!! i wont give up till i find out :x

I'm going to ask a few people that may know someone 'on the inside'. But... I may need a VIN #. Let's talk true identification... VIN

FIRST OFF ITS JUST "VIN" NOT "VIN #" YOU JUST SAID VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER NUMBER, SECOND WHY WOULD YOU NEED THE VIN?? YOU GONNA LOOK ME UP AND COME STEAL IT ????

Hey Chris, I sent a second question on TR Rubicons to the Dr. Z site about a week ago like I said I would. Their lack of response may mean that, other than what they gave me the first go around -- "987 TR Rubicons sold in 2003" -- (web admins, reps) don't have any other information readily available.
Daimler Chrysler did around 120 billion in sales in 2003 and the TR Rubicons accounted for maybe 3 million of that. So the TR model is not much more than a very minor footnote to them, financially speaking  Even so, the information on exact production numbers is at DC/Jeep somewhere, though. :D
You may be one of the first few people to buy a TR Rubicon with some miles on it. Most new buyers of the TR Rubicon probably didn't care so much about precise production numbers because they knew they had a new vehicle, knew it was a limited addition, saw the individual number of the vehicle, and that was that. But, a collector who buys a limited edition Jeep "used" is going to want more details. So, bad news is that, given that it's onl 2006, you may be one of the first people to really want an answer to the question, "what's the total number of the TR Rubicons that were made?"
I'd just focus on hitting DC/Jeep until they cough up a written answer/DCJeep document that states the number. Because, unless they have DCJeep documents or answers confirming production numbers, other sources -- 4x4 clubs, rubicon fans, Jeep wizards -- may not necessarily provide precisely accurate info to you on this. I'll keep hitting DC for an answer myself and if they send docs, then I'll send you copies.

Chris is on a better track than me.. I asked the guy I know, who was going to be the one to ask a head muckity-muck at DC... He didn't seem to wanna be bothered with this, nor did he wanna bother DC... So my lead went to crap at the first try. But with a VIN, you may be able to push the dealer for more info...
As far as VIN #... Uh, ya, umm Vehicle Identification Number Number... ya, that's the ticket ;)
