Don't have any experience with dealing with MOPAR.  Was looking at the mopar site for Jeeps, it looked like they were offering parts only back to 2003.

What do you have to do to buy parts from MOPAR directly (ie. not marked up through the stealer  :lol: ) Get a catalog from some Toll free number?  Online retailers you guys like?

Reason being is that I was looking to buy some replacement vinyl seat coverings for the cracked-up, original spice ones that I have.  No, I don't want to buy aftermarket seats (or frigging covers), especially with the JK coming around and its headrest-ed offerings that make most aftermarket seats look like JK imitators.  I just want to stick with OEM, uncomfortable vinyl seats.  

Tried the junk yards - no joy finding a spice YJ drivers seat in fairly new condition.  

So, its direct to MOPAR in a search for replacement coverings.  Please enlighten me about what's the best route to take in search of MOPAR

Mopar IS the Dealership.  Unless you like buying overpriced stuff, I'd look elsewhere.  For seats, have you tried a upholstery shop?

FYI

Mopar = Dodge/Chrysler
TRD = Toyota Racing Division
Ford Motorsports = Ford
Nismo = Nissan/Datsun

Not to hi-jack the thread, but I can't think of anymore  :?

So, basically, to get OEM stuff, you are going to pay big.  What a pain in the a!@   :cry:

Probably could have picked up some vinyl OEM Spice-colored Vinyl seating surfaces from MOPAR for about frigging $300.  Went ahead and bought some at auction for $100 that had reportedly been sitting in a storage closet for the last 13 years.  Had them installed at an upholstery shop and they are sweet. It's like the Jeep -- at least inside -- is almost new.  Digging the YJ style  :lol:

dealers are the only place for the parts because there is a license to access the parts so even the dealer has to have the proper paper work and employees to get the parts.  sometimes you even need special status for certain parts and even techs for warranty work.  i had to call for aproval and provide every bit of knowledge and certifications I had to order a stupid plastic trim piece for our first jeep compass that was broken on arrival.

The dealer want's like $330 bones for it. Go to an upholstery shop and get er done for like $150-250.

i don't disagree with a good price nut they can't call them genuine parts if that means anything to ya

Tight , some people will never be satisfied unless it has dealer parts on it.  O.E.M is nice though I will give the local upholsterer my business.

i probably would to as long as the quality was there,  i work at a dealer and genuine means about nothing to me other than fitment
