Alright I know its probably been talked about but I am havin alot of trouble finding engine upgrades for my 89 TBI 4 banger. My exhaust manifold has realy bad leaks as does my muffler any other possible mods out there would be great to know about. Thanks alot.

Shark, I bought a new exhaust manifold for $25 on Ebay and it's been working great, my 89 had the same problem when I bought it. The TB and intake will need to come off to change or fix your exhaust manifold leaks because they share bolts, the 2 ends ones are studs with nuts. The job took me 1 day to remove everything and another day to reassemble with new gasket and manifold. You probable just need a gasket and torque everything up good it should be fine. Yes Pre 91 can be frustrating, there are alot more engine accessories for 91 and up but my 89 is doing really good the way I have set it up, not sure what your after but here is a link to pre 91 thread in the Workbench section and a pic of my 89YJ.

Thanks for the info Guardian its been a real pain to find anything for a pre 91 2.5l but I am hoping a replacement exhaust manifold along with a new exhaust system will help the engine breathe better and at least eliminate my leak. How is that TB spacer workin out? Looks pretty cool and I am glad to see peopkle tryin to do somethin to help our power out a little bit.
I also checked into Ebay manifolds and I found a few that said they would work. They are fairly cheap and made of cast Iron. I dont know if this is good or bad.
By the way you got a pretty sweet set up for your jeep. I ran 33 xterrains for awhile and they were awesome as far as street and mud go After I regear to 4:88 I am gonna run some 35 xterrains I hope the 4 banger can handle it. Only time will tell.

Sounds like we have the same Jeep! got any pictures you can post?
I havent replaced my exhuast just a flowmaster muffler.
Here is the Ebay Store that we got the Exhaust Manifold from but thier price seems to have gone up some $43, shipping was fast!
Gasket was bought at Kragen Auto Parts $5 or $6 bucks.
I also used a tap and die to clean all the threads up before re-assy, getting a torque wrench on some of the bolts is pretty tough so I used my calibrated arm. http://www.4bangerjp.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1684

Good stuff guardian thanks for the link.
Currently I am without a camera but I will borrow one to post some pics. I am in the process of swapping out my procrap lift springs for wagoneer front springs for a little bit of stretch I am also putting in the 8.8 rearend. I am a college student so money is short but as soon as funds allow I will get that manifold and a new muffler. ill probably do an efan swap as well. Then Ill be putting an aussie up front and a detroit in the rear and regear to 4:88. Ill keep you updated on the build and let me know how that tb spacer works out for ya. Thanks

Shark, I have the Procomp 4" springs which had 5 leafs in the front packs and 4 in the rear packs. It was so stiff I ended up removing a leaf from each of the front packs and now it is much much better but they dont compare to some of the new suspension systems out now like OME & RE.

I got the 2.5 springs and they have to be some of the stiffest springs I have ever seen. I am flipping back and forth on wether to switch back to stock springs or to waggy springs. If I go back to stock springs with my SOA setup I will have about 5.5 inches of lift so I will run 33's. It all comes down to wether or not I want 35s or 33s. They each have their pros and cons.

my max speed that i could sustain increased almost 8 mph and i get about 3 mpg better after those upgrades on my 89 tbi 4 popper

I thought the borla header only worked if you didnt have power steering
