Title: Emergency brake doesn't work

So I brought the '98 over to my brother in law's shop.  He worked on the brakes while I changed the oil, and grinded some rust off the corners.

After some swearing (for all the projects) everything came together.  The pedal was a little spongy, but it went away.

But when I pulled the e-brake to test it out, nothing.

Now what?  We're sure it got hooked back up, but what else could it be?

I'll pull the wheel off again tomorrow, but anyone who has suggestions please pipe up.

Is the cable tought at the yoke.  The yoke is where the two cables that come from the axles meets the cable from the stick.  I'm sure you had to put slack in it to get them off the drums.

Well, all the cables at the yoke were okay.  As were the cables on the drums.
The (I lack the right term for it but) spreader bar, that has grooves on each end for the shoes to sit in, with a spring on one side wasn't hooked up into the e-brake plate.
On the one side it gets both the shoe and the plate, but only the shoe was in it.
A few hours of playing (as I've never done brakes before) and I got it working right.
Yay!

Glad I saw this post. I am going to pull my rears and see if my E-brake is hooked up right.
