Title: What Next???
Post by: gomi on September 14, 2006, 07:38:07 PM
Okay guys, I'm trying to figure out what goodies I can get for my jeep. I was thinking maybe a throttle body spacer and an intake, or the jet-chip. Any suggestions as to what might be the best buy? Thanks

The only things that worked to give me power was a 4.0 throttlebody and a throttle body spacer with a K&N air filter 4.0 gave me the most power

K&N filter 4.0? do you mean that you just bought an in take for a 4.0 and fit it to your jeep?

I never got the throttle body from the 4.0 so I am missing some here. I got the rock it intake tube kit, a throttle body spacer ,a flowmaster muffler, and a banks tourque tube header. In a previous post I mentioned the header did not do anything. I was wrong , now that I remember it kept the air flowing , it completed the intake modifications. Not too noticeable but instead of losing power on hills drastically it kind of maintained a steady, better speed than prior, even prior to me having big tires and mods come to think of it. I should get the exhaust upgraded to a 2 1/2 diameter next. But I saw that electric turbo from "street feakz" on J.C whitney for $350.00 and wonder if it will fit my GP's intake. It says 16-54 hp increase. 16 horses aint bad i reckon.

I found an inch long Crack on the inside of my exhaust manifold #3 cylinder at the y . Not very noticeable until it came off the vehicle. I have no idea how long it's been busted but I got a little over a hundred grand on the motor.

I'd go with a 4.0L TB swap and a ebay TB spacer for a little increase in power.

+3. Best mod so far. I'm just waiting for those injectors to come in now.

I think I'll try this. I have to go find one though and I don't know of any junk yards around CT that might have them. Maybe try ebay.

Oh man, that really sucks. Wish mine would get here. I'm a bit impatient.

Hopefully it will clear up. It is making the motor run a lot rougher than when I first put them in.

Oh, if the weather agrees... I'll be doing a turbo muffler (Thrush) swap this weekend. It's a mod I highly suggest.  I have a garage but god forbid I pull the Caddy out to work on another vehicle.

To hell with the wife. No way is that Caddy going anywhere. It's an 1987 Brougham with an Olds 5.0 liter. It is now my garage queen. The 1 and only way I'd get rid of it would be a trade for a Jeep. And even then it might be hard to get rid of.

I had a 84 SVO that I hung onto for about 6 years that no one could get me to sell. I finally sold it last year. I felt bad about it just sitting. :D

I now drive my Mustang during the week 45miles one way(23mpg) and my Jeep on every other day I am not going to work(13mpg). :D  That way both get exercised.

Any ifea how easy of an install the bolt exhausts are? Something like a borla or dynomax. To me it looked like nothing is welded and just kinda clamped, but I don't know.

Not so sure on that gomi. From what I've sen though they do indeed just bolt right on if you purchase the correct kit.

The muffler I'm using is just going to be clamped on.

Hey Dexetr30, how easy would you say it is to do? Would...say a girl about 5'7" 115lbs be able to pull it off. 8)

It's not the sex or the size of the person. It is the know how or expertise. :D

I installed my first cat-back in a hotel parking lot in Waikiki while tourists walked by...  Depending on the year it might be easier to replace the cat while you're at it.

Well, if said girl has some basic mechanic skills, a little bit of muscle and the proper tools... I'd say yes.

A reciprocating saw is key when doing a project like this. I’ve got two but can only hold one at a time.

Hmm, I used a borrowed hacksaw with many teeth missing and a heavy crosswind so filings were going everywhere...

I have the 4.0 TB/intake/AEM filter, and they helped a little, but i didn't feel a noticeable difference till i put on my pacesetter header (get a better one if you can afford it). I still have the stock exaust, but i'm going to be building a new one soon.

Here is the latest for my TJ

To bad it is a little low for the hood line. I was hoping to keep my winch controller up high next to the headlight. Oh well. Used and cheap.

And then I have these to 'adapt' to rid of the rust holes
(http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d99/jagular7/TJ/100_2315.jpg)
3/16 plate that will be bolted to the trimmed kick panels and floor at same time.

Then these came in today along with some front suspension poly bushings.

I've got some death wobble and all that is left to being stock is the upper arms and bushings. I've got new upper arms coming, and I'll replace the upper arm axle bushings this weekend.
