Title: Storage for a year+

I am leaving the country for a year, maybe a year and a half to go fly Vipers in Korea.   Not sure if I should put my jeep in storage or just sell it.   Anybody have any experience putting a jeep in storage?   Any problems when you finally get it out of storage?  Anybody have a good checklist of things to do before it goes in?

Just bring it to my house. I'll keep it lubed...... :D

Best thing to do for storage is to remove the battery, top off the fluids, fill gas, add gas treatment, remove wheels/tires, drain the radiator, clean and wax exterior, store in climate controlled environment under a blanket. Being that far away for that long, can't leave it with someone in the family you trust? Best keep it running monthly to keep the acids and water minimum.

I agree, it would be easier it have someone drive it once every few months then to leave it in storage.  You'll definatly want to run a fuel treatment.  You have to worry about the fuel seperating and turning into sludge then gumming up the injectors.  Pulling the battery and sealing it up would be a good idea.  They sell large car bags that are designed for storage.  Keeps air inside to act like bubble wrap.  Keeps animals and bugs for living inside too.  I've only had my Jeep in storage for a few months at a time and still had rotten fuel lines.

ow ay and for the gas try to get none oxigenated gas.... those corn aditives realy cut down the shelf life of gas... and do what was said above

I spent two years in Korea and left the jeep with my parents.  They didn't drive it much, and when I came back I had to replace the battery.  Other than that no problems.

Do you already know your duty station, or is it a supprise?
