LOOKS LIKE AN H3
-
nice.. ofcorse you see a v8.... the hood is very slim from the side.. un jeeop like i think
-
That's a Hemi V8 in there. And those are 37" Krawlers. I think it looks great. I'm impressed how nice the JK Unlimtied looks built up actually.
-
i know this has nothing to do with the mod but i like the door hingers on the new wrangler.. remindes me that it is a jeep.

Is that all you like about it? :lol1:
-
Hej you know I mean it does look really good but I agree that hood profile is low and it looks un-jeep, yea its badass hemi v8 with 37" rubber I wish i had the cash to do that to mine and it would like even more badass cuz it still looks like a wrangler and not an H3
-
I think it would look alright without those extra couple of doors.

The hood height had decreased since the CJ. The YJ is a little lower up front and the TJ is a low lower. Not to mention, they change the rake of the windshield to make the body more aerodynamic. I think lowering the hood is a good thing. It sits pretty high as it is.
As for the 4drs. I used to love the looks of the Concept Dakar. It looked great. Even with 4doors. When you get older and you've lived with 2dr Jeep for a long time, you wish more a bit more room. A second set of doors makes life a lot easier for those who ride in the back. Especially if you're not a contortionist or a kid. After seeing what they can do, with the new JK, I have to say, I like it. Although would I ever buy one, probably not. If I was going to have only one vehicle, I'd consider it though. Wow, that really makes me sound old doesn't it?
-
I think it's hot...would love to show up to our run on Saturday with that bad boy.
-
we've had 2 door and 4 doors at my dealership already and i have to say the rubicons don't look bad stock. by the way that looks like a 6.1 hemi and the are pricey plus not readily available. the srt8 is the only jeep that sports that bad boy.

Good eye, it's a 6.1L. A bit overkill for anyone but sure is bling. Good for a shop trying to get it's name out there. Are the stock tires really around 32"? That's huge and would explain why 37's look to be about the size of 35's.
-
id say the best thing about a 4 door rubicon is renting them.... about once a jear my family flys into vagus and drives a rental jeep to daeth vally for a few days.. and we couldnt fit all our stuff in a regular wrangler so the 4 door should be good for that..
-
4" looks a lot better then 2.5" on the Unlimited.

its jeep imitation fo a hummer, i guess for some reason they became jealous
-
yes the rubi come with 32's they are bfg mt but not ones you can buy off the shelves, they are actually the baja race pattern and if they do well on the rubis they may use them as the new mud terrains.

They're using the Baja Terrain? Those are supposed to be extra thick compared to the regulars and the Moabs are the soft compounds. This doesn't really make much since because they used E Load tires when they should have used C Load tires on the TJ Rubicons. It doesn't make sense why they're using such a heavy tire on there. Probably weighs as much as the 35 or even 37 radials.
-
the tj with the mtr were wearing out in 20k and that was causing problems with the people who buy the jeep for just a road vehicle so they gave up on mtr all together and are under full contract with bfg. the power wagons started it last year with bfg at's and now the wranglers are following with the "new" bfg mt. i think it is funny that they say bfg mt right on the side but if you order new bfg mt they look like the old mt ka they have had for years. i think this pattern is taking over now. i have never seen then for sale yet but saw then on the bfg sponsered baja trucks as a prototype tire. it looks just like the old mt's but the center lugs kinda hook toward each other so they kinda have the bfg mt look but with a swaper twist in the middle. i'll try to find a picture if I can. i know they were in peterson's or jp about 3 months ago but i can't remeber which. either way they have a pretty mean stance to them.
-
all this talk of BFg makes me think of the BFG in doom.......
-
Well, here's a pict of BFG's Baja T/A's.
-
they are pretty simular to the ones on the right but not exactly. i'll have to find the article or take my camera in to work and get a pic for ya. like i said they are not available for sale yet but they may be soon.
-
I wonder if they took their old Baja T/A and revamped it to make it more street worthy. I'm sure they were never high sellers. Neither were the Moab's. A pict would be great.
-
I just can't get over the four doors :?

Hmm well, I used to not like 4dr sedans. Thinking they don't look as cool as a coupe. But now I really like them now They are very practical and they don't look that bad. It's always a PITA to get passengers into the rear seat of a 2dr. It's a hassle to pass lift the seat every time someone wants in or out. Or if you need to get something from the back. I guess this comes with age since I never minded it before.
I still would love to have one of these though. I like the size. Too bad they axed that idea and make the Liberty instead. I guess the JK unlimited takes some keys from it though.

well i say the new 4 door unlimeted for the first time in real life last night... but they didnt have any rubicon versions.. nothing special realy... but there was a yj with some super swampers on it with the hight output 4l motor.. that got me more excited than the new unlimited
-
I just got off the phone with Dan at Burnsville Off Road... He had like 5 Jeep JK's already. He started to give me the low down on a few...
silver 4 door 6.1 Hemi, the first and only one with that engine at SEMA. Due to time restraints, seems like no-one could get it in and running before the show.
He has a white 2 door with a 5.7 hemi... All with at least 37-38's on all...
Pretty impressive!!!
-
wait burnsville off road...sounds fermiliar..
-
Burnsville, Minnesota
-
aw so there is someone else in the twin citys here.....my dad orderd his full traction long arm 3.5inch lift kit through them... i think
-
I used to live in Burnsville, long before they were there...
-
sorry jeffy but i took my camera to work to take you a picture and they sold all three rubi's over the weekend so hopefully they get another in soon.

I found some pictures I have a DCX's JK they drove around in LA with. It has BFG KM's on it. Although they have a white label on them that read; 'Baja Champion'. Which is a bit different. I'm not sure if that makes them any different then the regular KM's though.

yea thos are standard bfg muds, i got them out on my jeep now. are the new rubi's sposed to have special bfg muds??????

I'll see if I can find a picture of them. I may have one that might have the tire in it. I don't have one of the tire though.
***Ok, I looked at my picts and did find something. I didn't think I had it originally. Seems to look ok.

Found this image too. It's the first I've seen of a JK without the front fender. It just looks like a Jeep without a fender and doesn't look as clean and I'd hope. Maybe it's that bracket or the dirty edge? :nothing:

if the braket wasnt thereit would look desent... that braket should have been part of the fender not the body.. i think
-
It needs a new front bumper... Not one of those big gaudy pnes with the headlight and fender protection either... It could use a shorty bumper like a Kilby or Hansen...
-
that is close but the center lugs are thinner and sharper curving. let me try to find some pics or like i said i will grab some on the next new one we get in.

Kilby is a Hanson actually. It's the older Hanson w/o the divot for the winch. I really like how they have an integrated winch plate on those. Too bad they cost an arm and a few fingers though.
I believe, they will have them available for the JK though.
-
That lifted red one looks like a Hummer H-3. I don't care for the looks but the 4 doors would be great to get the kids in easier. However, a tight trail will be a nightmare with that extra w.b.

Really......you really think the extra slightly more than 1" on either side will make a difference on a tight trail??
-

Ease up a little Moz, where did you get 1" from? The 4 dr has a WHEELBASE of 116" vs 95" of the TJ Wrangler. That's alsmost 2 feet and does make a difference on tight trails. Hell, the park I go to has a max of 110" for this reason.
wheel·base (hweel-beys, weel-) –noun Automotive. 1. The distance from the center of the front wheel to that of the rear wheel in a motor vehicle, usually expressed in inches.

I haven't read a SINGLE review that said the width OR wheelbase was a negative factor on any trail riding....only an improvement.
Not that anyone on here has been doing it, but I'm sick of these so called "hard core" wheelers calling the new Jeep crap because it is slightly longer or wider than the TJ....or CJ...or whatever the hell they are driving.
I haven't driven a trail or met a single wheeler yet that would have problems with this new Jeep.
Where do you wheel that has a 110" limit? Must be serious rocks or moguls in that place.
-
The Cliffs Insane Terrain in Mariselles, IL. Trails are VERY tight and windy, with rocks, steep hills and mud throughout. I've had to rub my tire up against trees to make turns several times there, so I can't imagine being 2 feet longer. Liljeepz has been there too and said he's not going back until his is paid off to give you an idea. As soon as my Heep is fixed, I'll be back there to break it again. An absolute ton of fun there.

hmmmm...that's driving distance for me (and gain an hour when I cross the state line). SW of Joliet...right?

Yes it is, if you're serious about going check out Great Lakes Jeep Thing (http://gljt.org/)'s forum. Jeep club based out of Chicago. There's usually guys going about every other weekend. Next time I go may not be until the New Year's Day run.
