Hey guys, Well I guess it's time to put the hardtop on. Only problem is that I seemed to have misplaced the factory torx nuts and rectangular washer things. I also remember there being two rubber pieces that came off when I took the top off this summer. Anyone know what the rubber things are? There was one on each side and they fell off of the hard top when I pulled it off. So I couldn't tell where they go. Thanks

I just put mine back on yesterday....I don't have any rubber things.
Just 6 (3 each side) torx bolts and rectangular washer things.

Hmm..I wonder what they were. Oh well, now I have to try and find some nuts and bolts and get my roomate to help me put the top on. We managed to get it off, but let's see what happens when we try to get it on. Maybe I'll have to ask my dad for help. Thanks Mozman68

I'm sorry. I just saw all of this and had to do it. Hope I didn't affend anyone.

Well, if the TJ top is like the YJ, you'd have two large bushings that the front lip of the top rests onto the windshield frame. SOmetimes they stay with the top other times they fall off.

Crap, I know there were two rubber things, I wonder if the top will leak with out them on.

Well with my YJ, the bushings keep the front lip from bouncing as much. It makes a better seal between the door windshield fram and top, otherwise there's a small gap that leaks air. I guess water could make it inside if it rainned hard enough but shouldn't come pouring inside. Might leak a bit while left outside though. I'm not certain of TJ's even have these though.

Ok my TJ has two rubbers that are where the top door and body all meet it sits on the tub and gets pinched by the top and seals the hole there at the door, Ill get pics up in a few mins I just have to find the camera.

i put my rubbers back in place, and installed my top yesterday. Bought osme extra weather stripping and lined the whole front of the top , and it still leaks air. I give up on tryting to stopp the leak, i guess ill just have to crank the stereo louder just.

Hmm, those are different then the YJ's since those are on the tub and not the windsheild frame so axe my earlier post since it won't apply.
-
Hmm...I'm guessing they go there. I'll have to take another trip to the parts department at my local dealer. I was just there today and forgot to ask. My heater knob broke, so I had to get a new one.
-
Is that the one you fixed before?

No, that was something a bit different. I osted a question before about the temp being stuck on hot. Fixed that, but on saturday the actual knob you use to switch from different vent positions, broke so that it just spins. Got a new one for $13

Hmm, I could have sworn someone has a similar problem and I mentioned using JB Weld to fix it.
Those dials sure have a lot of problems though. I keep hearing about them failing or breaking the dials off.

Yup, when I came into the parts department with it in my hand the guy working looked at me and just said "wrangler?". he was about ten feet away and could tell, I guess it must happen often.
