Title: gauges went wacky.
Post by: gomi on October 28, 2006, 10:11:31 PM
Okay, my gauges have gone wacky on me. I think there is a recall on this. My gauges will randomly stop working and turn back on if you hit the dash. It has happened twice now.I know there is a recall on this but does anyone know how to fix this. I really don't have the time to take the jeep in. Thanks guys.

It has to do with the wire harness at the gauges.  I'm sure a TJ'er will come in with an answer.  It's very common problem that can be fixed at home, I believe.  The harness is getting pulled and disconnects itself.

There's no recall but a TSB.  Remove the gauge cluster and unplug the BUS connector where it connects to the main wiring harness.  Bend the pins in the connector slightly for better contact and reattach using dialectic grease.  Some even ziptie the connector to be sure it stays tight.
