Title: strong gas smell

whenever i am getting on the gas coming down the interstate i can smell real strong gas smell i know i have bad gas milage (it is hard to tell my speedo and odometer does not work) but i was just wondering what everybody thought i was thinking that maybe i have a o2 sensor out but wouldnt the check engine light come on?

whenever i get on the gas, i get a smell of gun powder, i think i have another exhaust leak somewhere but whatever.  Strong smell of gas hmm..  that happened with my dads old blazer, he ended up needing a new gas tank.

You might check behind the driver rear tire.  Reach around or crawl under and the Jeep, behind the tire, in the inside of the frame should be a square boxlike skidplate with a small cylinder in it.  That's the fuel filter.  See if ti's wet there.  If it is the small rubber elbow that connects the fuel filter to the fuel hardline probably has a crack in it and it leaking under pressure.

i tried the beano first it didnt help after removing the filter skid plate i found i had a crack right down the side of the filter     thanks again guys
