Title: buying 04 2.5
Post by: desertratdaddy on December 07, 2006, 09:39:23 AM
Kinda new to the Jeepin world, but i have been 4xing for years in my F 150.Anyways im buying an 04 2.5, and need to know some stuff. I plan on doing a 2" lift, with BFG 32".What other upgrades should i consider right out the gate, for intermediate trails and barely any on road driving.
Getting jeep for 10K, with 17000 miles

If it's seeing very little onroad why not go with more aggressive tires then the BFG's?  I'd probably consider TSL Swampers.  31" TSL's will be around 32" and get you further then a BFG.  BFG's are prone to sidewall damage.  If you're only driving trails and back roads then performance mods probably aren't your thing.

I'd get some tow hooks (front and rear), hook-less two strap, hi-lift as a minimum.  I'd consider getting a winch, tree-saver, winch block and gloves.  A length of chain with some D-links could be helpful too.

You'll want some disconnects up front too. Some type of on board air whether foot pump or not. Fire extinguisher, small fold up shovel fro digging out of slippery spots to get traction. Cb radio.

www.justruns.com has a really nice trail package list on their website under "Required Equipment".
