I think the only thing I'll be reviewing is the air compressor...the winch is their standard 9.5ti.

It'll be a "stock" winch now, but I think I'll be adding an additional 5 gallon tank to it if I'm convinced that it will run some basic air tools....would have been so cool to impact on some lug nuts this past weekend....first three Jeeps up a hill broke either and axle or shafts or u-joints...what a mess.

The PowerPlant is in da house....and it weighs more than a mofo....

I'm 99% positive that I will spend every waking moment tomorrow installing my new front bumper and the winch...so look for pictures tomorrow night!!

Well...finally finished up the bumper and winch this morning and everything looks great...here are the pics:

Before...what a sad Jeep...

Went to the hardware store and upgraded to grade 8 bolts for everything.  There was an interference issue with the bracket holding on the front sway bar, but I figured a heavy bumper bolted on top of it would hold it just fine (KOZ must assume you have an aftermarket swaybar installed??).  The bumper lined up with the bottom bolts, but the top was off slightly...nothing a little drilling couldn't fix.

Here is the after shot...needed another trip to the hardware store for longer grade 8 bolts for the winch....I guess Warn doesn't think the bumper and plate will be that thick on an aftermarket bumper!!  It all work out in the end.

Here's a close up of the winch...spool conttrol on the right as usual and a winch/air compressor control on the left.

Here is a close-up of the winch/air selector...doesn't get much more simpler than that!

Here is the right side of the winch where you access the air....ruber cover protects the coupling.

The air cover off exposing the access to the air coupling.  The winch comes with a coiled hose and tire inflator.  I also bought the accessory pack with an additional extension holes, tire deflators and a tire inflator with gauge.

Pretty standard hook-up to the battery, bu the compressor requires a hose to be routed inside the engine compartment to feed it air (highlighted in this pic)...has a filter on top to keep everything neat.

Last but not least, the controller...winch in and winch out switch on top with light in case of overheating (the winch is their standard 9.5ti thermometric)...kind of hard to see because it's black, but the switch near the bottom is an on/off switch for the compressor.

Everything works, but haven't had a chance to really test it out yet.  We'll see how the air holds up before I decide to add an additional tank.

Looks pretty good.

What does it say about weather protection? Where is the air inlet? Does it have an air cleaner? Does is come in colors?

I'd suggest that you place some spot welds around the bolt heads. And get different size/shape bolt heads. This would keep the winch/bumper around a lot longer as many thieves don't carry a large variety of tools with them. The frame bolts should be 1/2x13. I have a metric head and a standard head up top and both have spot welds on a corner of the hex and kept the stock torx underneath.

See the pics above about the air inlet.....

It is bolted from the bottom and would be nearly impossible to get at without extensions to get through the bumper in the front.  This is Grand Rapids...I'm not worried.

Looks good Mozman. Hope you don't mind. My wife got me Photoshop CS2 as an early Christmas gift and I'm learning how to use it.

oooo....looks like a solid gold winch....

Mine's parked in a garage (double bay for the wife's Commander and all the toys and I get the third garage for my stuff!!).  I had such a hard time getting it on, I'm not sure how easy it would be to get off...especially the hook pin (I had to use a small sledge).

btw...the winch weighs 100 pounds!!  Good luck getting enough leverage to pry it off.

Looks good, keep us posted after a few uses. I am curious as well about the compressor. Being in MI may I suggest a winch cover. Salt is a bitch for us northerners.

If the compressor fails do you ship the whole winch back to Warn or can it be removed separately?

Four bolts hold on the upper cover...I had to remove them to attach the air hose.  It seems semi-conceivable that the compressor could be removed.  I would just have them replace the whole thing though and ship back the old one.

Wow...  That winch is Mondo-gorgous!!  Is the air compressor running off the same motor as the winch?  I'm guessing (if that's the case), the CFM's are pretty good too.

Next step is to plumb in some tanks, regulate it to about 100psi and tap in those Air Lockers!!

Very impressive Mark!  Congratulations!!

well...since you mentioned it...I'll mention the plan for the next two months (although I'll only be without my Jeep for a full week).

Turning it over to the guy who fabbed my bumpers (http://www.kozoffroad.com)and sold the winch to me.

*  Front and rear high pinion D60's (most likely with 4.88's, e-locker in back and ARB up front)

*  Custom LA suspension...probably 4.5"

*  Custom tube fenders...front and rear

*  Custom rocker rail...to look like Poison Spyder but will tie in nicely with the tube fenders.

*  35" TRXUS mt's on AR Chamber wheels (teflon coating to help the mud fall off)...these..

after all that the only thing left will be to figure out what engine I want to move this stuff around....I will continue to utilize the 4-banger until I can afford a new engine.

Actually, AEV is opening up shop here in MI to build the brute kit and should be able to do a HEMI conversion only 2 hours away.

that powerplant looks great but i have to ask, have you noticed any decline in performance due to the fact it covers almost all the air vents?

Nope....the grill is all radiator, so how would blocking it make a performance difference??

I just looked at the specs listed for the compressor, 5cfm at 90psi is some good flow. That definately is a nice winch  :thumb:  I wish i could afford one

that thing is huge.  but i am still envious.  i'd watch that air coupler cover though it looks like an easy thing to bounce off and lose.

No problems with that as I can see...the cover is thick and has depressions on the sides so it litterally has to be squeezed into place.....it is also attached to the inside of the compressor area.

that's cool i guess they spent enough time on the research of all parts.  that's what nice about the big companies is that they don't overlook the small stuff like that that could be easily missed.
