Hey folks,
Here's the situation:
My Jeep is still new to me (month and a half) and I just had it safetied before I started driving it. It's a 97 TJ 4.0L (Still love you guys though!). I went out with it on Wednesday night and right before I drove it home, I filled it with gas. I over-filled it a little, basically, after it clicked, I still added about another 1.50$. Then I drove it straight home which is a block. Last night I went to my underground garage and it reaked of gas. I could see that it had leaked a little right under the gas tank. I took it out, drove it for about 10KMs and then parked it underground again, facing the opposite way as to see if it leaked again. I checked 3 hours later and the ground was dry.
My question is, does a Jeep overflow to the ground if I overfill it? Or do I have some rotten tube hooked into the top side of the tank that is leaking? Any input is welcome! Thanks!

There shouldn't be any leaking unless it's from the neck of the filler. It could be leaking from the top of the tank too. There is a seal there where the fuel filter/regulator is. My guess is that it's not leaking from the fuel line to the engine since the engine runs and you're not getting a leak all the time. If it's at the top it will only leak when it's full so it might be hard to find. The other thing is a 97 is ODBII which has a take pressure sensor. So it can tell if the gas cap if off.
Is it leaking form the center or one of the sides? Can you even tell? Try taking a flashlight and see if you can see the top of the tank from the wheelwell.

Will do. I'll report back. Thanks bro.
