Hey I thought there was a walk throw on Electric fans, picking one out and install on this site... I can't seem to find it. Was I mistaking this site for another?

-
actually I have read several threads on electric fans or parts to get'em running.  I actually just put together a web page about my install....  be kind though it was my first attempt at a web page!  http://home.maine.rr.com/rwing1/JeepElecFan.html  Picking a fan for me was really just finding one CHEAP that fit the radiator and space available. A trip to the local yard found me a pile of electric fans in a room that they were happy to let me pick through......  found one labeled "late 90's Intrepid" that fit the rough measurments I had taken and a few days later I had it all put it in.

				There's these two.....

BTW, I see you've become a full fledged member of Great Lakes Jeep Thing. Even got a fancy new title. Congrats!

Hey, ive been looking through the posts trying to find one on the right electric fan to buy. I thought someone posted one not too long ago with one that was being sold on amazon along with setting up a switch for it? Anywho, cant find it...

-
I know the ford Tauraus with the 3.8L V6 i think years 90-95. Easy to find at any pick a part and held on by 2 bolts i think 7/16.

Not sure on the Mark VIII but might be same years.
-
how much are they new? and what are my options there?

-
Dont know new you would have to call a ford dealer for that and i'm sure it's more than the $35 I paid for at the pick a part.

The fans are in really good condition on those junkyard cars. The ones on e-bay are from the junkyard just cleaned up which you can do with some armor all.

why would i need to find a ford dealer? Im sure there are after market efans. Im not necessarily looking for a ford. Im well aware of the vastly lower prices at pick a parts, just searching for my options.

The Ford fans are some of the best.  Not only are they easy to find in salvage yard but they're cheap and last a long time.  The MK8 fan is a monster even when in low-speed.  The Taurus fan is no slouch either.
-
autozone has them new but at nearly $200 i took my "chances" with the $10 used one at the autoyard..

-
damn, ya i dont normally like to pay more in gas to get there and pay less for the stupid thing. haha

E-bay has them (Taurus 3.8) for around $45 plus $15 shipping. Company is in Florida...just ordered one...will advise more when I get it and try to put it on. Not sure what all comes with it...but 4WeelParts.com has the switch assembly for around $75 if I recall.

$49 or so adjustable at summitracing.com is a better deal. just type "fan switch" in the search

I've used the same one as jeffy works great.

I just slide the temp probe through the fins right under the upper retrun hose neck of the radiator.
