Could be something like a clogged vent line on the fuel tank. When it dies, try taking off the gas cap and see if you hear a sucking sound.
How long does it take after it dies for it to run again?
-
sounds like over heating sorta i think.
-
it only takes about 5 mins to restart and and chitty chitty bang bang never overheats i got 2 coolent heaters on board spliced into my heating system ( i live in northern alberta canada i gets cold up heer in the winter) whats stupid is it wont stall while idleing itll just sit there all day runnin

ok thats it now it wont start at all and when it dose start it goes about 10 feet and dies its no wonder why chrysler is about to be bought out buy a canadian company if theyd learn to engineer things better they wouldnt have to bring out a bizillion models every year to keep there customers...... sry all im just ranting cuz i just worked a 14 hr shift and then got stranded buy my mint condition piece of crap yj and then had to push it 3 km uphill with no help GRRRRRRRRR its always been a love hate relationship with my jeep
-
Oh crap... I see the problem. You have square headlights! :yikes: Get that taken care of and it should run just fine. :asshat:
J/k of course. Let us know what you find. I've had two yj's so far and both of them drove me nuts. One went up in flames while driving from South Carolina to Pennsylvania and the other was a rusted out p.o.s. that I gave up on. I know there is good yj's out there, I just haven't had the best of luck yet.

shes at the dealership now geting a diagnostic ill post whats wrong when they phone me
-
well well well it seems that theres massive corrotion under my power distribution center aka the fuse box under the hood so it needs to be rewired and thats the problem for all my troubles hmm fer all u guys having wierd problems with your yj electronics look there first mud and water just get tossed straight up there from the tires ill be building a small shield for the bottum of it when i get it backto stop that from happining again :brick:
-
Good to hear you got things sorted out. Electrical troubles can be a p.i.t.a. to figure out imo.
-
note to all members if having electrical problems check the underside of your power distribution center aka the relay box next to the battery these are prone to mad corroution all jeeps are subject to thisjust finished making a splash sheild to stop that from happining again ill take some pics so anyone interested can fab 1 up

My jeep cut out randomly like yours a few months back. It was the same problem.
