Just wondering what some of you have done to your 2.4L's to wake the little buggers up. Ive gotten use to the way mine runs, but would like to get a little more if i could. I havent gotten around to putting the 31's on yet, but when i do i would like to have the same power that i have now with P225/75/15's :bandit:

got a 2.5 but I would recomend a regear
-
Yeah i here you there (jcsanders79) i just thought if someone had some luck with boosting up the power on one of thiese 2.4L's that they would insite me some, but thanx for the heads up on the regearing part. ;)

I haven't done anything to mine yet, I have been kind of poking around the net seeing what to do, I think we need to talk to some guys with street cars (dodge 4bangers) and see what they do to get some power. I know I need to re gear, I don't know if that will help with mileage or not, but I'm sure it will help with power, Right now I don't even touch 5th gear unless I'm going down a hill with a tail wind behind me. Otherwise its 4th and floored to stay up to speed on the expressway.

I'll be ripping it out and replacing it with a bigger engine.....

Taking the easy way out... :blbl:

I dont think that he's taking the easy way out, but in any event maybee he is. I dont realy feel that my 2.4L runs all that bad, for what it is. I just realise that when pulling out at a light, that i have tires, the size of truck tires, a 3.50 1st gear, and a 4 popper. Which make for a slow start.
-
I actually don't mind mine the way it is.....stock.
But aftermarket bumpers, front and rear HP D60's, 35's on 17x12.50's.....I will simply spend the money to jump right up to a 350...or something in that field.... :guns:

I can still chirp my 31" MTRs. Its not good on anything on the jeep, but I can still do it. If you want more take off power then re gear, if you want more highway speed... Stop driving a brick down the road with 4 little squirrels trying to hoof it.
I drove my father in laws Trans Am a few weeks ago, he has it all suped up. being use to my 2.4L Jeep I punched it at about 45MPH about 2 secs later I was doing about 65 side wase down rt. 53 in schamburg time I let off the gas and looked down I was doing 130 mph, looked over at my wife and she was as white as a ghost, took me about an hour to wipe the smile off my face, but I realized how much trouble the 2.4 has keeped me out of! I don't want any more power! I can't handle it!

I chirp my 35's all the time! (Detroit) When I need to though, my Jeep had some get up and go but then it up's and leaves after 45mph... It's really quick getting up onto the freeway. If I get stuck behind a slowpoke, it will take me a while to get up to speed otherwise. I don't have a problem when I jump into other cars. I drive a '96 Blazer and with the 4.3L, it's a bit faster on the highways but it's a real pig when you have to maneuver quickly. A U-turn takes half the world compared to my Jeep. Braking sucks big time with it's ABS. It's a bit too sensitive so if you're too quick, it will engage the ABS and launch you 5-6ft past where you wanted to stop. For the Jeep, I think I'm fine with what it has, I just need to regear it, again. Regearing does wonders for an underpowered engine.

That's awesome! (http://www.chiefshuddle.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rock.gif)

So if i were to regear with just 31's on, i suppose going to atleast a 4.56 ratio would make my jeep pull a little stronger in overdrive up a hill, and make the jeep run the same with 31's and 4.56's, as do the 4.11's ive got now with P225/R75/15's. Yeah for every 1in larger in tire size you go up in, you loose about 200 rpm's of top end speed. Right now with P225/R75/15's and 4.11's, my rpm's in overdrive at 65 is about 2500 rpm's. So i figure with a set of 31's on, the 4.11's will run about 2100 to 2200 rpm's, which is a little low because i drop road speed to fast on a hill, whare the 4.56's and 31's should shoot me up around 2800 rpm's in overdrive. ???

depends on the weight of your tires too, My 31's are very heavy, I would say almost as much as 2 of my stock tires. That kills some power, also are you putting any kind of lift on, that makes more wind resistance, that also counts against power. There is a lot of factors to toss around.

I got a banks exhaust with headers, drilled my catalytic converter out with a rotohammer, o2 simulator, jet preformance chip, throttle spacer, intake kit. seems to go a little better. although it is loud, I run ethal or premium fuel. @ 18 psi it will (1250x33) lift the front wheels off the ground.

Your making me want to do that real bad! Not now since its my daily driver and all, but once I get another car, I will think about doing some research and think about diving in.
