Title: throttle bodies
Post by: braves3331 on September 01, 2005, 11:51:30 PM
what's the best way to clean a throttle body injection unit? someone told me to use the fluid used to clean carburetors and submerse it in this "liquid" overnight. sounded kinda crazy, so thought i'd ask ya'll. if this is true, what kind of liquid is it? and is it something i could get from the auto parts store? thanks

yep, it's an aerosol spray called "Carbuerator & Throttle Body Cleaner", and it's available at every auto parts store, and even places like Walmart, etc.  I'm not sure if i'd soak it in it overnight, but it's possible, just empty the can into a bucket or something.

one trick my brother, who works at corvette dealership told me is use rubbing alcohol its alot cheaper and a great cleaner, at your local drugstore get the 91% cost about 1.09US  .you may still want some spray just for the pressure of getting into the tight spots.
