The hesco cam and lifter set says that you also need to install new valve springs. the valve sprrings say this NOTE: Machining is required to properly set installed height. Single groove valves only. What does that mean?
-
my guess would be clearanceing the valves, its not to hard of a process, just take time and patience, if i am correct that is
-
I used Mopar Performance valve springs that allow for the increased lift, same springs as the Mopar v8's. No machining required to install. I might still have the p number if you're interested.

yes please. What cam did you go with and how did you like the gain? thanks alot.
-
Pretty sure I used this valve spring: P4529214
It is spec'd to handle this Mopar Performance cam I used:
P4529658
Factory Engineered Hydraulic Cam and Tappet Package for Mild Competition Application 256-256-40* Duration, .450" Valve Lift, 108* Centerline
I love the performance, used to do pretty well with 32" TSL's and stock gears, now it runs strong on 36" TSL's and 5.38 gears. Engine revs well and runs strong, can accelerate up slight grades in 5th gear.

Where can I order those two from? and if i cant get the cam from mopar performance could i use those springs with a diff cam... thanks alot

You can't get 4banger cams from Mopar Performance anymore, they discontinued them and everybody closed out thier stock. Got mine from a DC dealership that listed it on Ebay, cheap. I got lucky.
You should still be able to get the valve springs, retainers, guides, double roller chain, etc. from any dealership, or cheaper online at www.parts4mymopar.com .
The valve springs are the same as used on the Mopar v8's, so they're still available and useable with other name brand cams.

Go to the "Dodge Truck Magnum and Jeep Engines" section and you'll find quite a few performance parts for the 2.5L and 4.0L engines.

excellent.. thanks bounty hunter

its were the sping seats on the head it needs to be machiend down a little for the taller spings to sit at the right hight I had it done to my head. I used the hesco RVOB cam, lifters, timming chain set, springs, and roller rockers it is a nice set up.

how did you like the difference?

My 4banger is a lot of fun, the cam is only part of the total package.
I enjoyed it with stock 4.11 gears and 32" TSL/SX's, it would hold its own on the trail and the highway. Now, with 36" TSL's and 5.38 gears, it's even more enjoyable.
I'll build another 4banger should anything happen to this one, and I'd build it similar.
I need to get around to adding the adjustible MAP sensor I built, I think I could be doing even better after adjusting the AFR a little.
I also run the 4port Ford injectors and about every other popular 4banger mod.
